  1. Another sign shop somehow has my web site linked to his name

You're in Florida, they don't serve the same SERP results to two counties next to each other much less to Florida and Toronto :P. A bad link is sort of the definition of an SEO problem. That's the entire field of reputation management. Frankly it sounds like a good problem to have, you're...
  2. AI CS5- how can I check the rez of a bitmap

It will if you direct select it (white arrow).
  3. Another sign shop somehow has my web site linked to his name

You can call a reputation management seo firm, expect to pay $1500/month for a minimum of a three month contract. Or, you can start learning seo and rep management on your own. See you in a couple years! Seriously though make sure your G+ Local and Bing Business Portal info is all correct...
  4. ips monitor calibration?

http://spyder.datacolor.com/portfolio-view/spyder4pro/ However, as you're a print shop, you should already have an xrite i1, which you can also use to calibrate a monitor.
  5. upgrading my computer. any advise?

I've used two monitors for about a decade. Most designers and programmers I know use at least two. I ran three for a while but that was back in the CRT days. 1: Main Workspace 2: Reference art, email, etc. Some people will do main workspace as the design board with all their toolbars open on a...
  6. Storage?

openfiler is also worth looking at if you're rolling your own. I prefer Synology for business due to reliability of both software and hardware controllers. At home I just run a stripped down ubuntu server install with mdadm, rsync to offsite, etc.
  7. Wow! I think I found my Software?

    apt-get install yourewelcome
  8. Beer!

I buy a 6pack/tallboys of a different WI microbrew every week. I don't think I'll ever run out of new in-state varieties to try with how much microbrewing has exploded here in the last decade.
  9. form to keep track of jobs in a day

And this, kids, is why you should go to college and get a white collar job. Humans aren't robots. Also seriously just go demo signvox, $129/month is like one less (small!) job screwed up due to paper shuffle. Will pay for itself immediately.
  10. So is this goodbye???????

    :rock-n-roll:
  11. So is this goodbye???????

We're overdue for the north american supervolcano basin to explode too. There are near-infinite scenarios which could wipe us all out at any moment. That's just life. It's fragile, so live well and plan contingencies for the things you CAN influence.
  12. Which printer to buy?

HP L26500 is my general response but what nice you're in is the most important factor.
  13. Things to make your kids from work?

Don't like bringing stuff home from work; too many industrial chemicals in vinyl, heavy metals in solvent ink, etc.
  14. Wow! I think I found my Software?

Your RIP computer should be it's own machine that just RIPs things, what OS it is hardly matters. It shouldn't be used for anything other than ripping.
  15. form to keep track of jobs in a day

Whatever you do, go digital. Managing workflow with paper is a wreck.
  16. 4th of July plans?

Hang out with my son, work on my businesses when he's napping. Avoid 4th of July nonsense and the yahoos that it brings out.
  17. Marketing Survey

We track metrics on everything, yellow pages conversions are terrible. Been increasing spending on PPC over the past two years with good results as well as spending more time keeping our website fresh and chasing long tail. The rest of our biggest wins are all word of mouth.
  18. Do You Remember When

I remember being on the internet before there were webpages. We're still in early days but thank FSM that Ajax technology was invented and web UX finally started maturing. Of course there are still people out there using tables for design, so it's not like the whole world has caught up yet even...
  19. Storage?

Yep, get a Synology NAS and an Amazon S3 account for automatic disaster offsite backup (the NAS will keep the S3 account up-to-date). Which NAS model you get will depend on your budget and storage needs. I recommend the DS412+ for most sign shop needs (I consider 4-bay to be the minimum, I don't...
  20. Looking for camouflage pattern

Just order pre-printed and laminated camo and install it, way easier.
