  1. Flexi and HPL25500 ??? Any Better Now?

We found the learning curve on our L25500 to be miniscule compared with solvent printers, it handles so much automatically. Don't see any graininess that matters (you may be referring to the dot pattern which can be different than other printers, some would say better...). Haven't had any...
  2. print on magnet on the latex?

Works fine as long as the printable magnet provider shows HP compatibility on their product page. There are at least a couple that do, we've tried two, both were fine.
  3. l25500 NO audible alarms

That is annoying but Onyx will also pop a warning when that happens and we typically have someone looking at Onyx all day long, either loading up jobs or finishers using the cut server, etc. Plus if anyone in the shop notices a red light on the printer they know to inform the right people that...

  6. Dragon Design

  7. upgrading my computer. any advise?

Spend your money on a quality 8bit IPS monitor with 100% aRGB coverage. If you've already got that, and a hardware calibrator, then go buy an SSD or better GPU. At the end of the day if you're looking at a crappy monitor all the horsepower in the world doesn't really matter as you're designing...
  8. Large Trailer Wrap Design Questions

The proper way is the way that works for you to get the result you want. Stupidest debate ever. Use all the tools. I personally start with Illy but if I need to get into raster stuff I have no problem flipping into Photoshop, doing those elements, and then combing them all in InDesign for...
  9. Reverse Wound

Yep, just load the roll opposite normal wind and manual load (manual load is ...so...much...faster... ). You may encounter head strikes though due to material memory so feed out a lot of lead. We ask our vendors to supply banner normal wound now that we mainly use HPs.
  10. Candles making people sick?

Candles are well known for dropping indoor air quality you're releasing carbon and sulfur (and a bunch of other nasty things) into a closed system. If something makes you feel ill, avoid that something. Are you asking us because you think signs101 is doctors101 or are you trying to get us to...

  13. How to bill it...........??

I'd give them two options: Option A. Everything is individually line item'd and described. It is then priced as a one-off. Option B. Everything is ganged and the line item will contain a list of the signs that pertain to that line item. Priced as a gang. What sales software are you using...

  15. So ... Whaddya call THIS??! A YAP?

Looks like Yarn Bombing, which is part of an artistic movement that sprung up in the mid to late 00's. Google it.
  16. Business Card Slitter / Wholesale Business Cards

Back when I was in the BC game we used a big steel 1950s pneumatic guillutine, could handle 250 sheets of 100lb cover at a time. Would take your arm off if you let it. Now we work locally with a high quality offset vendor and toss work back and forth. Online vendors are cheap, look cheap, and...
  17. Race car wraps

Like CNC, learning how to manage color workflows for large format is a discipline unto itself. You can get away with using canned profiles and defaults but not if you have clients who want really vibrant stuff, which racers tend to. It'll probably take a few years before whoever is operating...
