I've have to agree that the blue/white/orange gradient is a bit much. Doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the sign.
I'm also assuming this sign will be dimensional as you say it could light up.

Nyloboard is made from recycled nylon carpet. (The scraps left over from manufacturing, not old used carpets).

We stucco aluminum all the time.... I'm not too involved in the manufacturing department so I don't know all the specifics/products used.
I do know that you have to use and etching primer so the stucco has something to "bite" into.
Does the Graphtec require a static IP address?
Do you have a DHCP server? (usually an internet router)
It could be that the DHCP server assigned the same IP as the Graphtec to another Device/Computer on the network.

Ahh yes... the camera body is just a small potion of the investment... it's the lenses that'll eat up the budget.
