  1. eps question

What software are you using to plot with? Photoshop is a raster-based program. And, although you can output vector paths from Photoshop, you will most likely want to use a vector-based program like Illustrator, Corel or even the software that came with your plotter. What plotter do you have...
  2. Flexi investment...

    I'm with you.
  3. Flexi investment...

Well, schurms, from what I can decipher from you broken English, Flexi is ripping off all us "guys in the sign industry." Of course, you're getting screwed, too, since you have Flexi listed in your profile. Also, it was only a few months ago that you started this thread asking what the best...
  4. ** The Official Illustrator vs. Corel Draw Thread **

Any other pearls of wisdom that you can bestow upon us schurms? Besides how Flexi is ripping us all off and all real designers use MAC?
  5. Flexi investment...

Finally, a voice of reason in the wilderness.
  6. Flexi investment...

Yep, just plug you large format solvent printer right into Corel and rip/print away. I get so tired hearing everyone beat up on Flexi. I love it. It is very powerful software that has an integrated production manager and RIP. If you prefer Corel or Illy, cool. But lay off Flexi!
  7. Chuck Norris Face Vector File

Don't you mean "sneak around the flask"? Jack Bauer is currently doing time for a DUI.
  8. Mounting vinyl with laminator?

We use the laminator to mount the majority of our prints and cut vinyl. It works flawlessly. If the print is full-coverage, either 1) wait overnight for it to dry or 2) expose only a few inches of vinyl from the backing paper at a time. If you hold the backing paper against the mounted print...
  9. alien skin

Lidy Graphics, if you have Photoshop, then I'd use it for these kind of effects. I'm a fan of Flexi, but I've always found it's raster-editing capabilities clumsy and slow. I typically do vector design in Flexi and add the effects in Photoshop.
  10. First in, first out? Not!

    Yep. That's how it works.
  11. Dude, where's my ink?

    Can you elaborate?
  12. material size

The Mimaki only shows the printable area. I can print up to about 53.5" on a 54" roll. You can set the margins to be smaller.
  13. Copy operation failed!

Instead of copying and pasting it, import it.
  14. Printers and cold weather areas

Is the poor print quality due to the printer being too cold or the media? I'm guessing the media takes awhile to get back up to temp.
  15. Flexi questions

You may need to install the Hasp Driver to reconcile the dongle issue. I believe this is a SP2 issue. You can download the new Hasp Driver from the Scanvec website. I believe the default fill color is the first color in your swatch table. Simple move black to the first spot.
  16. Illustrator can't fit my design

Exactly. And, somtimes, that just isn't big enough! I use both Illy and PS on a daily basis, so I'm not bashing them. However, Flexi is still my go-to vector based drawing app. I think it's geared more towards the precise measurements involved in signcrafting than Illustrator.
  17. Illustrator can't fit my design

That's always been a drawback (in my mind) with Illy and PS--the inability to accomodate large layouts. Of course, you can scale things up, but should one have to? This is one area where Flexi blows Adobe products away.
  18. Mega Ink from Fellers

Haven't tried the Mega Inks, although we use Triangle Inx with great success. BTW, a company can't void your printer warranty for using 3rd party inks. That is a scare tactic. Even so, most 3rd Party ink manufacturers will pick up the remainder of your warranty to switch over. Here is an...
  19. printable magnetic material

Some folks will tell you they print directly to magnetic material with no issues. However, I wouldn't try it. IMO, you're asking for trouble--feed motor wear, headstrikes, etc. Print on vinyl and mount 'em.
