  2. Mimaki JV3 and FlexiSign 7.6.2 setup?

We have a JV3-160S 6-Color using the Flexi RIP. Here's what I suggest: In the advanced tab, Set your rendering intents to Spot for all except bitmap. Set that to perceptual. I'm not at the shop, so I don't have everything in front of me. I think it's the input profiles that are set to...
  3. Sticky Situation

I'm with ya, Karyn! We love the Triangle JVS ink, too, eforer. However, I still get handprints, etc, when the media is contaminated.
  4. printing tile maps in flexi 8

You don't use PM (RIP and print) to print to a desktop printer. Simply select Print from the menu. Pre-tile your image in Flexi, and Print.
  5. Sticky Situation

Try another banner material. I actually prefer my banner (and all other media) to be reverse-wound. It stays pristine during storage and is much easier to handle this way. I routinely print full rolls of RW banner, unattended overnight with zero problems with sticking, banding, etc.
  6. ...for all you Photoshop experts!

Bingo. PPI (pixels per inch) how many pixels per square inch in the file. DPI (Dots per inch) how many dots of ink the printer lays down per inch. There is no relation between the two. 72 ppi should be more than sufficient for 15' text. 360x540 dpi should be suffucient for...
  7. Illustrator CS + vinyl plotter= how to cut to size?

Simpler than that? Push the Easy Button.
  8. Took the plunge...Wish me luck!!!

Says who? What imperical evidence makes this "absoloutely" a profile issue? My ink usage varies from color to color depending on, amongst other things, what I'm printing. Typically, though, I go through the light colors a bit slower than the others. I've been running this printer over 3...
  9. Font Talk

I actually like both Copperplate and Papyrus in certain situations. It's just the nutso-crazy over-use that wrecks 'em for me. Jill, you cracked me up with the porno fonts, but I think that's a very appropriate moniker. Sarah Script is a lovely font, but Kraft Foods alone has used the heck...
  10. Font Talk

So we've talked a bit in the past about the serious over-use of fonts like Comic Sans and, more recently, Papyrus. The new culprit is Copperplate. I'm seeing this everywhere--from logos to signs to ads to TV shows. What gives? I'm also seeing a ton of "Balloon" on signs--not a good thing...
  11. Corn Dogs, love em or hate em?

This thread is a rubber band that just keeps pulling me back. Someone mentioned slaw dogs. Please tell me someone is from the Charlotte area and knows about this stuff:
  12. Help with font ID...

Thanks a bunch, Pat Whaley.:thumb: BTW, nice use of "whompussed"!!
  13. Help with font ID...

I thought this was an Arial or Swiss Rouned, but I was wrong. Any ideas?
  14. Corn Dogs, love em or hate em?

I agree! But with mustard only--ketchup on hot dogs/corndogs is damn near un-American!
  15. mimaki jv3 alignment

Be careful monkeying around in service mode. You can lock up your machine with some of the settings. For example, if you go into capping adjust and get it out of whack...the machine won't operate. Ask me how I know:Big Laugh :Big Laugh
  16. Took the plunge...Wish me luck!!!

If you're gonna go 6 color, then why not get the S (rather than the SP)?
  17. Took the plunge...Wish me luck!!!

We've had our 160S for three or four years now. It's a workhorse!! We run 6 color with a bulk in system. The JV3 is a fine printer!! Great choice.:thumb:
  18. mimaki jv3 alignment

Yes, one is more to the left. You should really change this with each media you print on. I have setups for various media, however they do change with room temp, humidity, etc.
  19. Color Management For Idiots

    Bobby H--great post!
  20. flexi 8

I wouldn't use AutoSave, personally. I've seen major problems with accidentally saving things you didn't want.
