  1. Superbowl Co-Branding Commercials

The Eastwood commercial amused me as it both featured the Madison protests (yay) and predicted the fall of America by declaring a half-time. Plus he sounded like Batman.
  2. Gotta Share this

I like: CrashPlan, BackBlaze, Amazon S3. Once you're past your initial (slow) upload uploads are incremental and no big deal. It's not the services that are slow, it's that your ISP does not give you much upload bandwidth. Bandwidth from an ISP is almost always asynchronous with a much, much...
  3. Graphic for a second entrance door

Will the building owner let you do anything about that awful exterior and entrance? It's absolutely terrible. The solution here is a bit larger than just some new signs (though I think chaining it off and a couple of tasteful "use the other door" signs combined with a bright visible logo and...
  4. data recovery service??

Drop a few bills, buy a Synology NAS and stock it with big arse drives in RAID 5 or 6, backup everything to Amazon S3 on a constant drip basis. Boom, now you have no need to have that meeting with your computer guy. ;) We've had a dozen threads on this recently full of good info.
  5. Not a sign sign, but a sign of the future!

They'd do a lot better than a miniaturized human pilot in each one. Computer controlled adaptive fly by wire systems sample air characteristics magnitudes faster and better than we ever could. The F-22 isn't even naturally stable, without the computer it would be unflyable (you could argue it...
  6. Not a sign sign, but a sign of the future!

$50? You know even if $50 is the cost per the military is going to buy them at $25,000 per contracted for delivery of 18 million units over five years or something absurd ;P. I'm with genericname.
  7. Whos on Voxer?

Same thing basically. Cell phone companies don't really care about whether you're using talk or data minutes, they're selling it all to you at markup you wouldn't pay for oil from mars and it's all going over the same network anyway. Voice is digital too. For example at average SMS pricing...
  8. Open source 3d Printer

Makerbot is a fork of the reprap project and is the way to go for sure. I still prefer the big industrial 3D printers that use laser fused powered instead of extrusion + milling but despite that the Makerbot project is completely awesome from the standpoint of driving the open source 3D movement.
  9. Not a sign sign, but a sign of the future!

I'm generally in favor of robots and aerial drones but the fact that domestic police forces are using drones now to track protesters and such is a bit over the line in my book. What are you going to do. Hello Skynet!
  10. HP Connection Dropping Out

What switch/router are you using? HP recommends a quality GigE switch (with Cat5e or Cat6 cabling), your switch might be getting overwhelmed and dropping the connection.
  11. data recovery service??

It was running, odds are good that the head crashed. Techman the cold CAN change the platter magnetically enough to skip past a few sectors beyond the stuck bearings issue but seriously I'm not sure why I'm bringing it up since I'm 100% against the technique :P. Here are some good recovery...
  12. data recovery service??

The cold can change the magnetic properties of the platter a bit and sometimes let you past troublesome sectors but don't do it, ever.
  13. Good L shaped Desk

Ikea. Galant series or create your own (inspiration: http://www.ikeahackers.net/).
  14. So I'm playing golf and return...

Client attitude makes so much difference! Great to see that you've been able to run with the brand, it deserves to be well managed. It's terrible when a great identity gets slowly destroyed by the entropy of owner carelessness. That van looks just as good in the field as it did on signcraft, no...
  15. data recovery service??

DO NOT PUT IT INTO THE FREEZER That is a LAST RESORT for a specific type of error and will make any further recovery impossible! The platters will get condensation on them and corrode as they thaw and you'll be done. Recuva is a nice program (for a free offering it's great), but I'm a fan of...
  16. HP Dripping Oil?

The oil is condensing out of the evaporate and dripping, it's not from the rail lube. You can get these printers to look like fog machines with the right environmental conditions.
  17. Want to see one of the nicest wide format print facilities around?

Air filter, you should be running one if you're using solvent in a closed area unless you like growing random extra body parts. Nice shop shots OP, always good to see. We're going to have to move in the next couple of years and I keep a file of shop images for planning, most of them scraped...
  18. Google targeted ads

Clearing cookies doesn't do much all they need is a half dozen unique variables to identify you (browser version, os version, which os updates you have, what other software you have installed). It really doesn't take much to uniquely identify a web user and cookies are the least of your concerns.
  19. Linux nerds! Help convert me to Caldera!

VirtualBox allows hardware passthrough to host OS so getting the VB Caldera install to see your printers shouldn't be a big deal. You could always use a Live CD installed onto a usb flash drive to run Ubuntu/Debian from and skip the whole "host OS" issue. As long as you keep some decent space...
