Get a Mimaki. But buy the plotter as a separate unit... Trust me, you will regret it if you don't. Mimaki makes a nice budget plotter, the CG130-SRII that cuts anything you need it to It detects register marks, etc.. and you aren't stopping your printer every time you need to cut.

I would say my passion for my work is much greater than the artwork I am capable of producing. When I go out , I am always looking at the signs - how they are made, printed, the design, just everything. I never miss an opportunity to learn and improve my skill set or knowledge. Drives my wife...

I printed on some laminate the other day using rasterlink. There was some dithering, but it worked for what i needed it for.

Well, after being transferred from one desk to the other 10 times - our local county actually does have rules about what has to be on their sign. You can contact your local county department of health and get them. I have to have No Diving at least 4.5" high, and No Lifeguard on Duty a minimum...

Are you talking about angle iron? You screw two pieces to the sign you are making, and then screw both pieces to the post.

Sometimes I have an issue with drop shadows in illustrator not being as clean as ones in photoshop. Bring in each element to photoshop, rasterize the layer at the final size, and then do a layer style drop shadow from there. Flatten the image and save it as a .tiff and see what happens.
