I never implied they were immune. However my experience with over 20 years working on the mac platform has been completely virus free.
When they come up with some kind of a virus that can infect macs simply by visiting a website, without having to download and run a file, I'll bump up the worry...
What are these viruses and adware you speak of? I've never had one.
Actually I lie. I set-up a win2000 server box at home a few years ago. Within 24hrs I had multiple viruses, adware and had been hacked into. So I sold the machine and bought another mac for at home. Life is good now.
My JV33 is in a home office environment. Can I get away with SS21 inks without a full ventilation system? How much worse is the SS21 than the ES3's as far as the stank is concerned.
ES3 vs SS21 Odour/Smell/Health concerns

Not sure if anybody's seen this yet or not. Looks like they have a new high-solvent with eco-like properties.

Might be worth a look for those looking for something with more bite than a mild solvent.
Actually it will not unless the file was saved with using the "embed fonts for other applications" button clicked. If it wasn't clicked when the file was saved then there's no information about the font in the file other than a reference to it.
Printing to a .prn or .ps file and then opening...
Might be some kind of a default measurements screw-up. See if there's some kind of setting in XP for default measurements (inches/cm/picas/etc. and make sure illustrator is using the same. Maybe try trashing the preferences file for illustrator and restart the application.
Strange. Never seen...
Just walk into his shop and be nice to the guy. Times can be tough sometimes. Tell them you want 4 post-dated checks for the amount of the invoice and let him pay for it in installments. If that fails then there's plenty of other good advice in this thread.
The moment you even hint at...
I've done thousands of fine art reproductions over the years.
Profiling is your friend. Without it you are lost. If you want to make money off print orders like this then you "must" create your own profiles. Otherwise you will print more proofs than orders and be dealing with a constant barrage...
Has anybody done a cost per sq ft analysis of their JV33 using a dual CMYK eco-sol set-up and standard Mimaki ink cartridges?
I need this info for a quote and my printer doesn't arrive for another week.
The dual core chips are pin compatible with the quad core. Down the road when the quad core chips drop in price you can replace the dual cores and double your processor count.
They're a great machine. I bought a refurbished unit a few months back. Couldn't be happier with it.
I set up a RAID 0+1 array on an old mac attached to the network to use as a file server. The board was $200 and I used 4 - 200GB drives. It offers both the speed improvements (nearly doubled file transfer speeds) and redundancy. I tossed in an 80GB drive to host the OS and keep the RAID array...
The OSX version (maybe PC too I'm not sure) will also receive graphics cards acceleration.
It will use the processor on your graphics card to augment the main processor in your box, in processor intensive situations.
