  1. car in a parade....

Ok, so a client calls me... and is going to have a convertible in a Christmas parade... wants a big graphic for it. I go over a few ideas, but since the car isnt theirs, I dont want to so a temporary big decal, and a magnet will be expensive for them... so, here's my thinking... I'm going...
  2. Mutoh 1304 / IJ180C Heat settings

I have actually experienced the same problem with a similar color, I print CMYK only (just the four colors, no light cyan magenta, etc.) on a mimaki. Maybe try a different profile, or convert the artwork to rgb or cmyk before ripping.
  3. Mimaki Technitian Wanted

Tubelite here has a very good one, I don't know what they would charge you to send him up there, but they also have some good guys working in Charlotte, NC.
  4. need vinyl roller stand..

^^^^ What he said. And sometimes, you have to adjust the roll on the back of the machine when a roll doesn't come centered on the core... then you will also be buying 38" banner material all of the time, so you don't waste 18" per linear foot of material you have printed when someone orders the...
  5. 10x20ft sign

That's the biggest substrate I have found as well. Do you have a way to transport a sign thats bigger than 5x10' sections?

  7. Laminator poll

It has taken me 9 months to get all of the kinks with my Daige worked out, and it works fine finally.. I will eventually buy a seal though. That's going to be a great day, let me tell you.
  8. beef jerkey

I am going to go over there now and post something to the effect.. "I'm looking to get into the beef jerky business, I have been eating so much jerky while wrapping my race car and..."

  10. how does the "little guy" compete

I sure am happy you aren't near me.. surprised nobody has burned your building down yet, lol.
  11. how does the "little guy" compete

Provide a quality product at a reasonable price. What can separate you from your competition is a good clean design and well put together products. A lot of people out there are hacks who will put out a crappy looking sign, or a poor product that doesn't perform over time like it should. It...
  12. Cheap Vinyl Shrinking

I use 3M IJ35 for my intermediate vinyl. It's good stuff. If I want to use something REALLY cheap I will go with the Oracal 3640, but why would you ever laminate that stuff? I use the 3640 for yard signs, temporary stuff, IJ35 laminated for anything that needs to last more than a year or so...
  13. Truth in Advertising

Cullman Alabama, just up the road from me... nice. **I ought to give him a call, his sign looked awful :)
  14. Black Friday Wrap Deals!!!!!

  15. Cast vs Calendered and clear coat

Cast vinyl, no clear coat. You can order 3m cast vinyl in short rolls (say 10 feet) ... definitely worth it.
  16. Oldest vehicle you have wrapped.

I own the ugliest truck you have ever seen, it's a yellow 1974 F-250 supercab with a bunch of dents all over it. I have been considering using it as a promotional item by wrapping it with my logo and "we'll wrap ANYTHING" and parking it out by the road. :D
  17. Mimaki JV33-130 dryer?

Could you send me a link to one? (The digi-dryer) That sounds exactly like what I want. Who makes it, etc.
  18. 3M-Laminate 8518 3yr durability??????

3 year probably has something to do with the gloss finish. Their luster and matte finish cast laminates are rated for 5 years. Maybe the gloss heats up more in sunlight, or allows more of the harmful rays through, who knows. 3m cast laminate is 2 mil thick.. how thick is the oracal? Do you...
  19. Mimaki JV33-130 dryer?

It's pretty humid here, and occasionally I have prints that stick together on the take up roll. Especially when it's a sign or banner with a dark background. In the past I had a JV-3 machine with a dryer attachment, and it seemed to work pretty good. Are any of you using an attachment, or...
  20. painted septic truck..what digital vinyl would you use?

sooo disappointed in the lack of distasteful replies... it's a septic truck guys, not one poo joke?! like maybe make sure to use the two-ply quilted vinyl? sigh... anyway, yeah, use the cast.. something tells me that you dont want to have to do it again after it's been used a bunch of times...
