  2. Where to buy new printer from?

I run a 54" mimaki jv33-130, on ES3 inks. I love my printer. I hate the inks. If i Had it to do all over again, I would run SS21 in a heartbeat. Just throwing that out there.
  3. Can I print variable data in rasterlink?? and How?

Rasterlink won't do it, but there are scripts out there for Illustrator that will. Those work for numbers, don't know how I would do it for names.
  4. What really matters?

LOL! A good nights' sleep is up there for me.
  5. Lost Job but I have a Roland Versacamm VP540

So many things I want to say, but wont. (since I am relatively new here anyway) Welcome from Alabama. I hope your printer is in fine running condition and that you find success in your new venture. Put the best product you can out there and hopefully a loyal clientele will follow. I would...
  6. Whats the Best Digital Vinyl to Use...Please Help

I am wondering, how do you have so much dust? I have a pretty dirty shop at times, but dust doesn't seem to affect my prints at all. I would suggest some sort of air filter. I print on a LOT of different types of vinyl, primarily use 3M IJ-35 and since almost everything is laminated, it makes...
  7. Fading a Pic

You can do it in illustrator with a gradient as a opacity mask. Do a search, on illustrator for opacity mask, or layer mask in photoshop. it might help you.
  8. The Lunch Box Logo

I like the last one. Nice job, and very clean. Needed an inspirational boost, everything I made yesterday after vacation was very blah, so thanks!
  9. Hubby & Wifey in the work place?

I'll go one further. My father in law and I started this sign company. My wife has another job, but sells quite a few things for us while she is out and notices people who need signs. You can say things to family that you can't say to employees. LOL.
  10. Unemployment & Older Workers

Wow, 40 is obsolescent? I'm 36, and can still program my DVR... I'd hate to think I would lose all mental capacity to keep up with new technology in the next 4 years :)
  11. Service Tech

Another cause for the spatter can be a tiny little piece of fuzz, especially if it's always the same color. Look very carefully at the corners of your print head with a flashlight, and see if you see anything hanging down. If you use Q-tips to clean around the head, or sometimes the edges of...
  12. dual monitors

I run dual monitors, and love it. I have an SLI motherboard though... Check on newegg or something like that and look for a video card that will go in one of your free pci slots

Wow, some good deals there! The laminator sure is tempting :)
  15. best laminator on the market

Cha88, do a search on Daige on here, you can't get pressure equal on both sides, so long runs are really hard to pull off on one. Best of luck. I wish I had spent the extra money on a seal, that's all I want to say.
  16. best laminator on the market

Well, My Daige solo is fixed now, and working okay, but I really want a Seal. I will likely finance one through a supplier next year and keep the Daige to mount stuff. CHA88, How busy are you? LOL -- you might be better off upgrading.
  17. I'm running this ad in the World Series Program

That's laughable, now you are just trolling. Quite well, I might add. I have to say, I am really enjoying this thread. By the time you add in all of your insidious hidden costs, you are well over what any local shop could wholesale to another without having to wait for shipping. My...
  18. Really getting pi$$ed off now.

Ok, an update. Daige sent me another new bottom roller... and I had our technician come out and install it. I just laminated over 30 linear feet of 54" material through it with not one wrinkle, this machine has never worked this well, ever. There is also very little silvering, and I am sure...
  19. A time before Signs

Worked in radio promotions and websites for 8 years - those were some REALLY fun times. Taught myself how to use illustrator and photoshop while doing that work, and then worked at a sign shop after I got married and decided it was time to settle down and do something a little more marriage...
