  1. I'm just about at ground zero, Need help with getting things rolling

Another good thing is Facebook. You might think I am nuts, but I have gotten a good bit of my business from there. Friends of friends who also market their business are on there like crazy, and guess who gets their sign business? Might not hurt you to go on there, make a page for your company...

I hate these people. They are getting smarter and smarter too..
  3. Help with laminate plz!

Check on the core for a model #, and also check the backing of the laminate. Oracal always prints the series of the vinyl on the backing. If it isn't Oracal and you cant figure out what it is - go online and request a sample roll from 3M, they allow you to order 2 sample rolls from them, and...

don't I wish. :) I had already created the outlines for whatthefont. they want more than just the one letter .. I guess I could use the H there, and find some. swash or script that has the same feel to it. id rather have the font though. was hoping someone had seen it before. thanks: )
  6. Got a good one for you - Font id?

Have a school who wants a mural on their wall using this letter - which was embroidered on a cap for the coach somewhere, sometime.. he hasn't a clue what it was, who did it, etc. Pulling my hair out here. Anyone know what it might be? Thanks a ton guys, I have been looking way too long, and...
  7. What vinyl does everyone use.

I use oracal 3640 for temporary or elcheapo yard signs, and 3M IJ-35 for more permanent outdoor applications on signs. Oracal 3268 for "fatheads" Oracal stuff isn't bad, as long as you get the right kind of vinyl for the right application. Now, Avery, I could tell you some stories...
  8. Quick, simple, effective marketing ideas?

Pat, I love the idea of the sticker on the box or tube. Where are you getting your boxes and tubes? I would imagine it also keeps things a little more organized :)
  9. Quick, simple, effective marketing ideas?

DO you guys print your information on the back of banners along the hem? I do not currently do this, but have been thinking about doing it. It would be an easy way of getting your name out there, but I have some internal dialogue going with myself about putting something to advertise myself on...
  10. Jpeg files

If it's not really complex, you might be able to make a live trace in illustrator, otherwise, what they said in photoshop adjust curves or levels.
  11. Do you hem all sides of banner?

4 sides and tape here too. Happy to see so many are using the hem tape - I don't feel so bad now :)
  12. How to attach velcro on banners?

Try a shoe repair shop. They have large sewing machines built to sew leather, the banner will be a breeze :)
  13. Laminators

Marie, I also have a Daige Solo 54" laminator, and it is the biggest piece of crap on two rollers - do a search and you will see a thread about it :) Best way to accelerate a Daige laminator: http://signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69159 Good luck to you. :(
  14. Returned check charges....WOW!

The worst thing about it is, banks don't process checks in the order they were received, they go daily on charges that aren't automatically deducted. Starting with the largest amount, going to the smallest - that way if one big one comes out and you have a bunch of smaller ones you wrote before...

  17. this ones for me

I have the same problem. Somebody else's logo - and it's pretty smooth, once I try to do something for myself - it takes forever, and I never like it.
  18. Eco-Solvent Ink curing - especially on banners.

Switched to some Key Banner 13oz. matte today, and reprinted a banner for a guy who folded his a week after it was printed. Of course, it was solid black (why does everybody want a black banner these days - takes a ton of ink) anyway.. it did seem to dry a lot faster on the matte finish...
  19. 3D printing

That's the coolest thing I have ever seen. Star Trek. I wonder if it could print a hot cup of coffee. :Coffee:
  20. Eco-Solvent Ink curing - especially on banners.

I am running ES3 inks. Wish I had gone with the SS21 now. I will give a different banner material a shot next time. What do you guys like/recommend?
