  1. Video Card suggestions

Are you using Photoshop CS4 or higher? It supports Open GL. Quoted from Adobe's site... "Photoshop CS5 and CS4 leverage the the video card's chip (the graphics processing unit, or GPU) instead of the computer's main chip (the central processing unit, or CPU) to speed some functions. Photoshop...
  2. New "Smartphone"

I went from having a jailbroken iphone to an android on the T-Mobile network. My Iphone 2g was as fast as my newer MyTouch 3g smart phone, but I thought I couldn't live without the 3g speed. I miss my iphone. It was as SignManiac said, intuitive. It just seemed to do what you wanted it to...

  5. Your Opinion of Seamless Texture Tiles

I use them in photoshop sometimes as a layer effect, rarely at full opacity or depth though, just enough to make it look dimensional.
  6. Cool ideas for a shop vehicle.

The thread KustomKoncepts did that got taken over by the Suzuki X-90 got me to thinking... :) What are some cool cars to use for shop vehicles, or to wrap for advertising? When we opened, I had considered getting an old school VW bus, but they were all either total POS's or rust buckets. I...
  7. Bumping Heads w/ the Internet

I wouldn't do double sided coro signs for $10 either. I have only quoted single sided that low once, and it was for a decent quantity and they were all the same. I have not been in business for myself very long, and am still learning pricing and what the market will bear (with some pains...
  8. How Print Large Images in Rasterlink

Haven't had any problems opening files over 300 mb in rasterlink, just flatten the layers, save as a .tiff and open with rasterlink.
  9. How Print Large Images in Rasterlink

What kind of file is it you are trying to open. What did you design it in? I have the best luck converting illustrator (.ai) files to .eps files, and Photoshop (.psd) to .tiff files - with layers flattened. Give those two formats a try.
  10. what is that thing?

does it have a threaded hole in the top of it?
  11. Dry vs Wet Install & a thanks to iSign

Nice video, just a few things... 1. Big Squeegee, WOW, I want one of those. When I can't use the laminator to do applications on something like a 4x8, I can see how that would be NICE. I'll be calling for one of those today :) 2. Never done a wet application either. You are using...
  12. Are we green yet?

I uh, use ES3 inks.. and ... dump waste ink into kitty litter filled buckets instead of the drain. Let's face it - our industry wastes a TON of material, and if it lasts 5 years without fading on a sign, imagine how long vinyl lasts in a landfill. I guess I could give the vinyl backing waste...
  13. Business Cards...

Is it just me or are they not worth the trouble for the PITA they seem to be?
  14. most unusual BBQ

About once a year I like to cook a 10 pound ribeye section for a party. Just sear it on all sides, get the grill at around 325 degrees, and let coast for 20 minutes a pound. Incredibly good... medium well at the ends, and medium rare in the middle - you can cut it with a fork.
  15. wind sail bent flags

People around here call them feather banners.
  16. Where can I find this style of door sign?

  17. Q: Best way to accelerate a Diage Laminator

Spent all my capital when I started up. Trust me, that's the first improvement I make once things start moving at a faster pace. I regret not spending the extra money when I should have. There's no telling how much I have wasted in materials, reprints and time cursing that abomination of a...
  18. Q: Best way to accelerate a Diage Laminator

Thanks for the replies folks. Just ruined another 4x8 print. I really hate this laminator. It works perfectly for a month, and then I cant seem to get it right no matter what I do. Daige should have come up with some sort of pressure gauge. "Tighten wheels until touching, and add a 1/4 turn"...
  19. Q: Best way to accelerate a Diage Laminator

I don't use a sled, it's not loading the laminate and having it stick to the rollers that is the problem, it's adjusting the pressure equally on both sides.. the little green dots on the knobs never line up in the same place twice - so you waste 6 feet of laminate getting what you think is...
  20. Q: Best way to accelerate a Diage Laminator

A: 9.8 m/s off the side of a freaking cliff. I HATE my Daige Solo cold laminator. Anyone have any advice on how to get the pressure even on both sides so you don't run half of your expensive laminate out before it's set right, or ruin prints because of wrinkles? What a total POS... If my shop...
