  1. Need a logo designed

Seriously ... newspapers huh? Lets start with Obituaries and Weddings, how about every major retailer, every car lot in a town, service providers, people selling their home goods, people trying to hire someone ... did I mention EVERY major retailer? I mean crap and a half, last week there were 3...
  2. Put out to pasture...

Heck yeah, I can see an entire dvd on nothing but chisel lettering and gold leaf applications, I would be up in there like swim wear with that dvd.
  3. new logo

    Good enough for government work.
  4. Front Door Monograms

Just have them cnc'd out of aluminum or another material. If it's something heavily detailed like the attached, i would look into a relief process (vacuum formed or 3d cnc'd or the such) but pretty much anything else can be cnc'd, plasma cut or bought from a company like gemini.
  5. Need a logo designed

I'm not happy to see you keep posting this drivel, how about next time you keep your referral number off this inane b.s. like a common spammer. If someone is interested in a competition for a logo idea in order to get 114 pieces of garbage and the subsequent revisions to make them half way...
  6. Want to build my own boxes

You might since you are not a merchant member. http://www.signs101.com/forums/payments.php
  7. Put out to pasture...

I'm no where near retirement, but I'm going to get back into ceramics. Miss it so much. (what I majored in while in college)
  8. Put out to pasture...

Man, the amount of collective knowledge you have might be worth at least the time and effort to make a series of how-to videos or podcasts. That right there would be about 6 months worth of planning and doing right there. As for the design work ... why not give crowdspring and other...
  9. top 15 worst logo failures

I actually like the windows logo, little simple for inside the OS though, but it will look a lot cleaner on your start button than the current web 2.crap they have now.

  11. Want to build my own boxes

http://books.google.com/books?id=2HmHHB7lPLAC&lpg=SA6-PA3&dq=%22ul%2048%22%20code%20of%20standards%20lighting&pg=SA6-PA1#v=onepage&q=%22ul%2048%22&f=false section 6 has the types of electrical signage applications and the UL cert needed. UL 48 cert is for outdoor appliactions. interior...
  12. Stock photos: difference between these 2 images?

Always buy the tif. there is no compression and if saved in lzw format (not always) will result in a file the same size as a jpg. you will ALWAYS see the difference blowing them up since jpg causes that wierd color halo scrobble around hard edges and that would be blown up. trust me, get the...
  13. Customer has a deposit on a logo but want's to go another route

short answer yes, long answer ... It won't help you get paid, but will tell the customer if he wants to kill the job in the middle what he will expect to owe or expect back, what his deposit pays for and what rights he has to incomplete work. I've used contracts for almost a decade when I hit...
  14. Customer has a deposit on a logo but want's to go another route

Always have contracts for design work ... a one page contract can have at least the basics to what the customers should expect, what you should expect and when you get paid and what their rights to the work are. always have a contract.
  15. Signfonts Special, New Releases!

I thought Lemonaide was when people throw lemons at your when you have a sour mood?
  16. Critque?

First, you probably won't get a compliment here on the site, we've seen people design their own logos badly for a long time and you should know better if you read through even 10-15 posts in the logo design section. Second, while you might think that designing out wall art and yard signs 'don't...
  17. Ready to hire a designer

+1 I would still hire someone who is creative and knows HOW to design but for 9 an hour make sure they want to work, know how to walk and chew bubble gum so to speak when it comes to doing design work and spend a few days training someone on how you want things done.
  18. Critque?

First off, jazzy just means flashy or showy in nature ... means you are going to make signs that will graphically 'pop' ... you'll need to reflect that ... not reflect a jazz origin. second, you will need to make your logo better AND different than the one at http://www.jazzysigns.co.uk/ and...
  19. Why does coffee in cafes taste 100x better than at home?

There is a Coffee delivery service that makes a mean cup of joe ... they pass in front of the shop 3 times a day or more ... makes me want to throw a brick at them some times.
  20. Which canvas?

my suggestion ... experiment ... probably take you an hour to route out some test panels and print what you need and another hour to put it all together. the important part is to be bubble free with your stirring ... gentle motion, no churning or folding of the stuff.
