  1. Christmas ideas anyone?

We never sell any pre-created stuff like that, it'll rot in your back room. People don't go to sign shops for christmas yard decorations, at least not around here.
  2. Attention HP l25500 owners!

Our JV3 shakes about the same but we blame that on the person who put it together. I'm looking at you Konya! ;)
  3. Jerk!

We send anything we have to anyone who wants its (as long as the request is legit and originated by the client) that way when we need stuff from other shops (constantly) we have good relationships already formed. If we originated the work that's covered under the design fee and contract already...
  4. Hacked through Wordpress

Use Microsoft Security Essentials not McAfee/AVG/Avast. Though Avast is pretty good. Don't use more than one of the above on the same machine, ever. Get rid of McAfee as quickly as possible it's bloaty crap that slows your system down. I assume you mean "caught it" as in it gave you a warning...
  5. Hacked through Wordpress

This is a radically false notion.
  6. JV33 Ink Coverage

It's really not that daunting at all. You could be trained on making a profile in Onyx and getting it right in a couple of hours. Fast process too once you've done it a few times. Other option would be Caldera, which is starting to steal some of Onyx's thunder (especially on your side of the...
  7. Attention HP l25500 owners!

That's why we're keeping our JV3 online as long as we can. We'll beat it up with the one off jobs and banners and such and do our high quality and/or high quantity jobs through the L25500 to minimize media switching on the HP. At least that's the plan.
  8. Hacked through Wordpress

Make sure you also wipe out your database, not just the physical files.
  9. Design Policy Procedure Form

Been a bunch of threads but most sign shops don't do this (and they should) so props on you. Best bet is just to google search for design contracts and assemble your own based on the bits that make sense to you. There's also always the AIGA designer contract if you're feeling...
  10. Thoughts?

As a graphic designer with a BA in Art History with concentrations in modern, post-modern & design...you have no idea what you're talking about. NOT putting crap out into the world, that wasn't even designed in the first place, is part of what makes a designer. You have a responsibility to do...
  11. Hacked through Wordpress

You weren't really hacked, you were exploited. Hacking is something you do to an intentional target, this was likely (99.9%) chance a drive by exploit. If you're on shared hosting it may not have been your account that was the initial breach, but this is a good reminder to always keep your CMS...
  12. Wacom's Inkling

Really? He said Intous 3, not Cintiq :P. Intous are super common and the 3 is a model behind.
  13. Attention HP l25500 owners!

Took delivery on one yesterday. At that price they're like the HP Touchpad $99 firesale...why NOT buy one (or six). :thumb: I was tempted to buy one personally to stick in my basement at home just to play with. :ROFLMAO:
  14. Thoughts?

As a designer you live and die by the quality of work you put out into the world. If you put that out into the world you can't just blame it on the client as you could have put a stop to it at any time. Designers are not pencils. If a client wants a pencil, give them one, don't be one for them...
  15. signvox review from an actual end user

Still curious on data portability -- can we export all data to common formats (tab delimited, excel, etc.) if we decide to walk? Still eager to get a demo with you but we're way too slammed to pause long enough :).
  16. Attention HP l25500 owners!

Sounds like you should set up a shop on this side and mail the prints to your shop on that side! I mean, nevermind, don't do that, want to buy some prints? Wisconsin is practically Canada! :thumb:
  17. Anyone sent out a Groupon?

This, and if you REALLY want to go down this road...don't use Groupon, use LivingSocial.
  18. Work Order Templates?

Instead of forms and threads about forms use a point of sale terminal. Paper can be lost no matter how good the form is.
  19. Yellow page ad

Nice but those yellowpages directory sales aren't great, way better ways of search ranking than wasting your time with a dinosaur company charging a fortune for one directory listing. Do me a favor, in three months post how many uniques you've had on your YP listing and how many that had...
  20. Logo we just finalized

This, most designers don't know that clip art in logos is a no-no unless you purchase exclusivity to the art. Two reasons 1) clipart terms forbid logo use 99% of the time 2) won't ever be able to trademark the logo as it's derivative. Always a chance Six Flags used one of those designers...
