not really, ps is allocating half of the available system memory, even if it's not using it. stacy's solution is ideal, if the resources are available. when i used ps7 in college, system resources were nowhere near modern capabilities, that's how i worked around/within the limitations.

just go to edit>preferences then performance. photoshop's greedy and by default will use 50-60% of memory available. with older systems i used to drop it to 25-33% typically both machine and software work better

in illustrator you could just use the glyphs. under the type menu>glyphs and select away. some fonts have many subset characters, alternates and ligatures or the character map under program files>accessories>system tools

i hope you mean cs3, photoshop 13. it's great for raster artwork, not so much on vector.

craig, i've just seen it everywhere. "modern" as it may look, it's been a trend for the last seven(+) years and it's lost the original aesthetic. what happened to the days of truly violating a traditional font with exactos and photocopying the distress?

i think it's supposed to be one design, the two sides of the card. i'm not much for grunge type and the blue for the text on the bottom (side two) looks like a different blue

to get the flexi files open, you could export them to a flexi 7.5 file. otherwise i'd recommend working with high res tiffs
