  1. Where to get Cedar??

If it were me I'd set a 16' PT 8x8 in the ground 6' in an 18" concrete footer, set your stone up to whatever height it needs to be, and then wrap it in 2x10s. If you wanted to get fancy you could use 2x12s and miter the corners so there's no end grain showing at the edges. This would be the most...
  2. Jeti parts from Agfa Guess how much..

Mike, just out of curiosity, on those shields and clamps, is there anything remotely special or are they something that could be fabricated by any half-witted machine shop or metal-working shop?
  3. Where to get Cedar??

Just out of curiosity, am I reading that right that you're going to have 2' in the ground and 10' above ground? If so, I'd rethink that. General rule is 1/3 in the ground, 2/3 above ground. If you want 10' above grade you'd need about 5' in the ground...
  4. Where to get Cedar??

Cedar can be hard to find but most non-chain lumber yards should have it. 12x12s may need to be special ordered though. Another option would be to use a pressure-treated post and wrap it with 2x10s or 2x12s to give the appearance of a solid 12x12 post (this option would by a lot cheaper I would...
  5. Graphtec FC8000 purchase? perf cut

FYI I'm PMing you so I'm not pirating this thread anymore...
  6. Graphtec FC8000 purchase? perf cut

Out of curiosity what do you dislike about Cut Server? I've heard other people complain about it here and there and I've never understood why, we print/cut all day every day non stop through Cut Server and have never had a single problem and in fact usually it's one of the smoothest components...
  7. Graphtec FC8000 purchase? perf cut

Yeah, we had rough service from Graphtec as well, which was another factor for us ditching them. Went to Summa and I can honestly say they have among the best, if not the single best customer service you will find anywhere. Not that we've needed it since their machines pretty much do what...
  8. Graphtec FC8000 purchase? perf cut

We had a similar experience as LittleSnakey in the past. Went through two FC5100s and an FC8000 and had a nightmare of a time getting it to read registration marks. Technicians were not able to fix it either. The only times we were really successful was when we turned the lights in the room out...
  9. Architects should start out as signguys...

Oh yeah, then I don't envy you...
  10. Architects should start out as signguys...

Rasterize the file you got in Photoshop, that'll solve all of your mask and transparency issues... We run across files like this all the time, if you don't need to modify them, just plop them into Photoshop and be done, much easier. And yeah, architects can be interesting to work with...
  11. Scrap Vinyl

My take has always been it costs you way more money in time trying to organize and sort those scraps, and then dig through it to find just the piece you need, than it would cost you to just use a new roll of material. I don't think I've ever seen a shop organize those scraps in any intelligible...
  12. UPS Is Unbelievable!!!

It is sad. Our sales rep is awesome, we're not a big volume shipper by any means but he always bends over backwards for us. Our drivers are great also, very helpful and they're always willing to go out of their way as well. But their counter workers at the hub are beyond laughable. I've been in...
  13. shop floors, what's your's like, what works

Not sure how much it helps but I have the 5/8" coin-top mats in my home gym and it's holding up very well considering I'm constantly dropping hundreds of pounds of steel weights on them. They're holding up very well to the abuse...
  14. shop floors, what's your's like, what works

I would go this route as well. We were going to before our new flatbed arrived but it came faster than we expected so we weren't able to unfortunately, but it seems that just having the concrete ground and polished seems to be the most low-maintenance option. At least that's what our research...
  15. UPS Is Unbelievable!!!

They upcharge you for items shipped in round tubes because they roll around in the trucks or on the plane and it takes extra work to secure them. We learned this the hard way when we shipped out an order of 100 posters to 100 different locations in tubes...
  16. UPS Is Unbelievable!!!

Yeah, they're rough sometimes. We still use them because FedEx around here is even worse amazingly. Last Thursday we had 9 boxes of banners going out (each box was about 24"x24"x48", and had 40 banners in each). We didn't finish boxing them until after our UPS driver came for the afternoon...
  17. GS6000 weaving problem

On the machines exhibiting the problem are you 110% positive the takeup is dead level and perfectly square to the machine? Check the "feet" on the stand as well to make sure they're parallel and not pigeon-toed. I don't know if this is related to your problem but it's worth checking. We...
  18. Light banding on JV3

Hey Scott, try turning your heat up a little, 35/35 is on the low side. Not sure if it'll solve your banding but it's worth a shot. When you do a test draw how does it look? Any nozzle deflection? Post a pic of the banding if you could, it's hard to diagnose without seeing it.
  19. GS6000 weaving problem

This is a long shot, but you said it happens "more frequently these days". Have there been any environmental changes where the printers are that may be causing it?
  20. GS6000 weaving problem

Have you tried different media or is this happening on anything you put in them?
