Dating in 1957 You need to be able to remember the era to really enjoy this... It was a hot Saturday evening in the summer of 1957 and Fred had a date with Peggy Sue. He arrived at her house and rang the bell. "Oh, come on in!" Peggy Sue's mother said as she welcomed Fred in. "Have a seat in...

I just went into serif fonts at dafont.com and entered "M BOAMP" for display characters and just cruised them 50 at a time looking only at the "M" -- its pretty unique and it didn't take long to pop out. I had the other letters next to it to confirm if a possible match warranted a further...

Colin, the closet I get is ATSackersGothic, but only after squishing a bit. The "O" defn' looks like it originally was a circle that has been subsequently squished. But, squishing doesn't fully account for how narrow the "B" and "P" are as compared to Sackers. Soooo.... I don't know.

  9. Window Perf caused window to crack

I think that its not so much that the perf covers the window, but rather what kind of graphic is printed on it. To give an extreme example, if the window is covered in perf but only a black square is printed in the middle of an otherwise white background, that will cause a great deal more of a...
  10. Window Perf caused window to crack

Gino, my guess is that conditions need to be just right to induce rapid uneven heating of the glass. In the case in Calgary, I believe it was the Safeway on 17th Ave, which in the winter is in the shadow of surrounding buildings till mid moring. Then, with a stronger sun suddenly warming cold...
  11. Window Perf caused window to crack

Why, yes, I believe this must be true. However, as others so often remind me, I am tempered by the thought that "fools seldom differ... " :Big Laugh
  12. Window Perf caused window to crack

Is there direct sunlight on the window? Does the graphic printed on the perf have distinct dark and light areas? If so, that is probably your culprit. Years ago, in Calgary, I heard that a Safeway store with south-facing windows had someone put large (3 or 4-foot) red vinyl letters across...
  13. Joke

So, the wife left a note on the fridge: "It's not working, I can't take it anymore! Gone to stay at my Mother's." I opened the fridge, the light came on and the beer was cold. I have no idea what in the hell she was talking about............the fridge works fine.

  15. Hemingway font

The lettershapes look to be brush-formed, so, unless Hemingway signed his name with a brush, its likely not his signature.
  16. good font for parking lot signs

Roadway / Blue Highway / Highway Gothic / Roadgeek are basically all just the same series of fonts. We paid for the Blue Highway set and found that the lettershapes and kerning were quite poor -- its kerning seems to have been set up for magazine titles instead of for ultimate-readability...

FOR THOSE OF US WHO REMEMBER Hollywood Squares: These great questions and answers are from the days when ' Hollywood Squares' game show responses were spontaneous, not scripted, as they are now. Peter Marshall was the host asking the questions, of course... Q.. Paul, what is a good reason...
