I got mine from Gregory, inc. I dont remember the price, but they helped me out a lot. After all of the troubles I had, plus the down time, if I had to do it over again (and it was up to me), I would pay a service tech to come and replace it. It would be well worth it IMO.

When it prints with the red tint, are you printing in cmyk or rgb? Set Black to 100% and cmy to 0% should be all you need to get a great black...

I was never offered an extended warranty at the end of my warranty. However I am giving the Eleven Ten inks a try, they guaranty that if anything goes wrong because of the inks that they will pay to have it fixed. I have one full set of oem inks in the printer now and then I will be trying them.

When I got all of my equipment (two plotters and one vj1204) from sign warehouse they never sent anyone out. Thats why they say you get what you pay for.

I am not sure about the 1604, but on the 1204 there is to much metal that the magnet has to move across which is to much for the rollers to pull.

I print on the perf vinyl from time to time with no problems, I use the same settings as I do on oracle 3651. I print everything with the head high though.
