  1. Chevy Express Wrap tips?

Use the right material. You "may" be able to get 3551 to work but it's a big if, more than likely you'll be facing a failure, it is not intended for compound curves or creases near the size or depth of the wheel wells on the Express. Use a proper cast film, use primer in the deep recesses, and...
  2. Frickin' Hil-ar-ious

+1!!! I actually sent that to a customer who had a tendency to pull that crap... He never mentioned anything about it but more or less straightened up after that, still a great customer!
  3. flat monitor advice

Invest in an i1: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=788 it's only about $200 and is worth every penny to reign in your monitors' colors.
  4. external hard drives...

MArlene, will this be attached directly to your computer or will you use it over your network? I have an external drive on my design station, I just bought an enclosure from Best Buy and put a Western Digital Raptor in it, eSATA connection, it's fast and has worked great for a few years now...
  5. LX 800 finally here

Awesome, can't wait to see some print samples off of it! Good luck getting it running!
  6. JV3 to JV33 is it worth the $$

We've found that on some media, even with the clutch set as "light" as possible we still have to watch the media compensation. POSpro and IJ180C seem to be the most susceptible to changes, but it seems like a lot of others need a minor tweak as well. It's a good idea to watch your prints closely...
  7. JV3 to JV33 is it worth the $$

Gary, if you can set up or operate your JV3 the JV33 is more or less identical, the menus are almost all identical, so are all of the maintenance functions. One nice thing I love about the 33 is the cleaning cartridge in the back. To do a custody wash it's all automatic now, no more eye dropping...
  8. Help identify this product!

Can you tell if they were extruded/molded in that shape and cut to length or if these were heated and bent? I can't imagine trying to heat bend something that long and keeping it perfect the whole length.
  9. Printed Channel Letter Faces?

wet if they're already router-cut to shape. We run the material through our laminator to mount is it's not cut yet. As far as a pass delay while printing, it's hard to say, every printer is different, all inks dry at different rates. Just experiment with number of passes and delay times until...
  10. Dual Monitor Help

I just got an nVidea Geforce 9800gt for about $170, and I'm running a 30" and a 20" side-by-side (2560x1600 and 1200x1600 resolutions) on it with no problems at all... If you're looking to get a card this one seems great for the money and obviously works.
  11. JV3 to JV33 is it worth the $$

First off, just to clear this up, CMYKlclm DOES NOT increase your gamut, it gives smoother transitional tones, and can give the impression of a higher print resolution, but it will not expand your color gamut one bit. Don't let a dealer try to tell you otherwise and don't buy a 6-color printer...
  12. print looks like it is streaking or washed out

Try going to 8 pass high speed. The higher the pass the more strain you are putting on your ink delivery system. 4-pass high speed probably will require more ink that the printer can actually get to the heads, going to 4-pass low-speed will help this but even so it may still be taxing the ink...
  13. Graphics standards package

If it doesn't specify I'd assume coated.
  14. InDesign & Illustrator Tip for the Mathematically Challenged

wow that's cool! I had no idea you could do that. Thanks GG!
  15. print looks like it is streaking or washed out

The place I bought them from included the O rings and nuts as well for about $30. Still way cheaper than OEM.
  16. print looks like it is streaking or washed out

The dampers are like a secondary ink reservoir right over the head. They hold a small amount of ink, basically they "prime" the head for lack of a better use. The ink delivery system cannot always maintain a dead constant supply of ink depending on how much ink is needed for the print job, so...
  17. What are using using to RIP to your Mimaki JV3 SPII (Firewire) isses

Kurt, I checked it out, the JV3 is on Firmware 7.00, the Mimaki firewire driver is v. 2.3, Windows 7 pro 64 bit, Onyx 7.3.2, the Firewire card is some old $30 CompUSA (out of business) house brand with TI chip with their original driver, and the Firewire cable is 8' long. Don't know if that...
  18. print looks like it is streaking or washed out

Have you ever changed your dampers? If not, I'd do that first.
