both free, yes. but two completely different beasts. gmail. web app that "runs" in a browser. data (mail) is stored on google's servers. Gmail is a free service. Thunderbird. email client program like Outlook, Eudora, Pegasus. Is a program that runs locally on your computer and collects data...
  2. Should I dump Thunderbird ?

Actually no. I've been shut out of Gmail and GDocs at least twice since they started. And it isn't necessarily Google that could be the problem. It could be anything from ISP problems to some jerk driving into a cable/phone junction box. You place far too much faith in people who purport to...
  3. Should I dump Thunderbird ?

Addy, one day you're going to get burned by this... Mail should be always kept locally. I agree with the poster who said the problem with the OP's missing mail is far more likely due to disk error or OS error than it is with Thunderbird. My mail (Thunderbird) is automatically backed up twice...

...except you must be online and you must have access to a working gmail server -- even to merely read existing mail.
  5. Should I dump Thunderbird ?

  11. Windows 7...I'm in Love

XP mode, if I remember correctly, requires a certain combination of processor and bios, I think. In other words, it won't work with just any hardware.

  15. Gerber IonX Owners...Can you help?

Why not? We have one and it works very well. Yes, there have been a few issues, but they have been dealt with. Gerber has promised us support for five years. That means keeping an inventory of ink and parts for every part of the printer. When five years is up, they're not going suddenly throw...
  16. Gerber IonX Owners...Can you help?

If you can find a tech that knows the setup, figure about two days for a by-the-book installation.
