  1. Clear coat Gold Leaf

We are gilding a lot (about 100) formed or injection molded letters from Gemini with 23k Italian Gold Leaf Patent. Gemini clear coats them when they apply the gold. Because we are too busy to gild them ourselves, we asked a number of subcontractors to quote doing so. Some insist they...
  2. Printer Disposal

Who would you call to pick up and dispose of obsolete wide format printers? We have a 54" Roland water based print/cut machine and a 60" HP solvent printer that are taking up space. I thought someone would take at least one of them off our hands because the roland cutter still works fine...
  3. Is this bad?

I don't have any sheep jokes, but I had the same problem with our Roland SC540. It kept getting worse until the misspellings were the least of our trouble. The screen became unreadable. It eventually only showed the right half of the screen. Twice. Once on the left side and repeating on the...
  4. clear release liner

We outsource our digital prints and they occasionally arrive with wrinkled backer sheets or other issues. We stopped having the premark applied in order to allow them to ship them rolled because they were otherwise a mess. To the point, apply premark and tape a hinge on the graphic to the...
  5. Not accurate cut with Gerber Edge and Gsx Plus Plotter

    Will do. Many thanks!
  6. Graphics on Concrete

That looks like a good product line but again, lists an expected life of one year. Has anyone heard of applying a sealer over the graphics?
  7. Graphics on Concrete

I checked out Asphalt Art and it is also listed as a short term promotional product. And Alumagraph is a metal company featuring ADA signage and ALUMA Grip is used for grips on pistols and knives, etc. Any longer term material?
  8. Graphics on Concrete

We have a client looking for graphics to apply to a concrete corridor in a hospital. We've done them using special 3M vinyl and laminate for short term (one year) use in museums, but never long term use in a hospital. It will get significant traffic and they are asking us to recommend a clear...
  9. Not accurate cut with Gerber Edge and Gsx Plus Plotter

Not to hijack, but it might help the OP (and me) to explain the Edge/GX calibration method (or where to find it).
  10. Best transfer method for Frosted Crystal on glass

Thanks for all the replies. We actually do most of things recommended. We ordered a roll of SCPS-55 after spending a bunch of time on 3Ms website. It should be in today and we will try it tomorrow. One new wrinkle is the alcohol prep. I'm not sure why this helps, but it's worth a try...
  11. Best transfer method for Frosted Crystal on glass

We are applying a panel of Frosted Crystal vinyl on glass with a series of doctor's names knocked out. We have done this many times but are struggling with this one for some reason. The biggest problem we're having is removing the backing sheet (clear plastic liner) and getting everything...
  12. solid brushed silver material for base of sign

We've done this dozens of times, including the N.E. Patriot's radio station suite at Gillette Stadium. Gator foam is stronger, lighter, thicker, better looking and stays straighter than ACP. It looks great with stand offs also. Four to Six would do it. It's easy to drill for the letters too...
  13. solid brushed silver material for base of sign

I'd have to see the design (or at least the letters) but at that size I might use black gator foam with a metal laminate face.
  14. solid brushed silver material for base of sign

If they want it to look nice, have Gemini or one of the other steel letter companies make the piece out of fabricated stainless steel with stainless steel returns. You (or they) can drill it and you can use bolts instead of studs to hold the letters.
  15. Exterior wall mount banner poles

The Banner Hardware Store sells them with or without finials, in a number of different colors/finishes. 775 345-3578
  16. Printing 4c process images on a Gerber Edge

We have used a Gerber Edge since 1996 to print spot colors for use in interior graphics, decals, logos, etc. We never used it for printing full color (process) images because we found the output unsatisfactory and the exterior longevity of the prints lacking. We used a solvent printer for those...
  17. Sign Tracker users or other estimating/job scheduling software?

You're two thirds of the way there. All you need is a spreadsheet to consistently list and markup your jobs. We've used Quickbooks since 1993 and wrote a spreadsheet so long ago we had to import it to Excel from Lotus 123. We use Basecamp to manage projects, which is very similar to Trello...
  18. Gerber Edge II Extension Cord?

Can the Gerber parallel port to USB adapter be used with an extension cord, either on the USB side (easy to find) or the parallel port side (hard to find)? We just updated Omega from 2.6 to 6.0 after many years. Not so much because we wanted new Omega software but wanted to replace our 1990's...
  19. Script Font Help Please

The OP got his answer so I don't mind hijacking this thread. Does anyone know where to get a good copy of Diana Script Agency Bold? It's a nice font, but I've only been able to find free versions that are horrible. If you closely at them, the curves are terrible. I'd rather pay for clean version.
  20. font ID help

Rock Salt it is. Thank you good sir.
