After trying Find my Font, Font Squirrel, and a couple more with no luck, I thought I'd see if any of you folks might recognize this typographical atrocity.

When I was first starting out my biggest problem was gripping the brush and mahlstick too firmly. Once I learned to relax my lettering improved tenfold.

Is majestic french for Mahl Stick, or is it a type of rum? Both can be quite helpfull.

I spent a few days at John Hannukaine's house back in the late 90's for one of his pinstriping workshops. He is an amazing talent. I learned a lot of tips 'n' tricks from him and Gary Jenson. We even had a jam session with him on keyboard playing "the Process Blues".

Thanks Notarealsignguy, I'll ask our suppliers for a sample roll or two those. I have used the Scotch tape in the past.

Maybe this stuff has gone extinct, but it's what every sign painter I ever knew always had in his kit. I appreciate your help, guys.

I have fine line tape here in the shop, it is too thick. You get a small run along its edge where the quill crosses onto it. We used to order it as " 1/4" sign tape " from any of our suppliers.

Thanks WH for the reply, but the stuff I need is 1/4 or 3/16 and it's a strong but really thin material. I guess scotch tape might work in a pinch. As far as getting back to normal, I live in Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast. There was some minor flooding here but nothing like in the rest...

Years ago when I handlettered most of the jobs I did 1/4" green plastic sign tape was a staple in the shop. I'd put a strip top and bottom of the line of copy and paint in the letters, pull the tape and finish off the rounding "flat tires" on the curved parts of the letters. I had a box of 144...

I know, years ago I handlettered thousands of jobs using only about six faces I had committed to memory.

Anyone know if this is even a font? I'm thinking it might be some type of designer trickery, 'cos I only find faces that are similar but no cigar.

I never found it all that helpful. Everything was either way too much or way too little. I just learned to guesstimate what I need to get for the jobs I took on. Sq/ft or sq/in pricing never made any sense to me.

I think mine might be getting a little out of date....

I think black coroplast and VHB is the simplest, quickest and least damaging option.
