I can pretty much guarantee that my costs are cheaper to just make two banners (can probably make 5) for the price this guy is getting his banner printed then sent away to get a liquid lam.
You obviously want to give your customers quality but I wouldn’t give them too much of a guarantee on a...
You can polish a turd but it’s still a turd.
In this case, you can laminate a banner but it’s still a banner. If they get more than a year out of it you’re onto a winner.
Banners are cheap and cheerful by default, trying to laminate and do all the other nonsense takes away the cheap and...
we use 19 still. It does everything we need it to and more but I can’t imagine it’ll be cheap to get 11 printers changed over to onyx.
If you’re looking for the same Functions as you have already, why the change?
Big fan of onyx but all I have to compare it to is Rasterlink. Rasterlink acts and feels like it was made a million years ago so from that to onyx was a dream.
I can’t imagine there’s much difference between that and caldera so you’re probably already using the right software if you’re running...
Try running “deals” instead of discounts. I.e. get a whole bunch of stuff and get “x” off the whole lot.
A few companies nearby us have started doing branding packages. Such as 1 vehicle, 2 signs, 5 hoodies etc and if you get it all you get a discount.
in other words, sell as much as you can...
A couple notable merchant members already up there but worth pointing out the service you get from those guys will likely be better too.
Obviously from an advertising standpoint it helps them to be here but they are both very helpful in/around the forums so it shows they do actually want to...
If it’s consistent there will be a media compensation somewhere in the rip. You print a large panel, measure the panel and the rip will automatically adjust based on those measurements.
Any changes to profiles etc? Obviously the less heat the less chance of warping etc so if you can turn that...
I would maybe email them and caldera and find out. With that you can use any (most) models of printer and any supporter cutter pretty much hassle free.
We used to use mimaki’s rasterlink and that was a huge PITA too. Now pretty much hassle free with onyx. I can print rolls on both the printers...
I don’t use any plugins for illy etc but a lot of this sounds like potential user error. I.e. if you know winplot is seeing hidden layers, save a new file without those layers.
Are you also saying that once you open the file in winplot the actual file disappears? Sounds like a reinstall/repair...
We get them from the supplier we use for our vinyl accessories, knifeless tape, banner hem tape, squeegee’s etc. Whoever sells you them should also carry those types of gloves.
Have you got a picture of the nozzle test? Usually a good start.
as long as it’s been on the whole time it’ll have been running cleaning cycles. Which should help.
Firstly try a few “hard” cleans - I have a mimaki so the terminology may be different but there will be something like that.
If...
For 10-15k you’re probably only really looking at a decent roll fed cutter (perhaps a summa S2 T160).
If you go to Zund (or any flatbed cutter) with that budget they’ll laugh you out the door. Even a decent priced entry level esko is ~80k and the zunds are much much more expensive.
Are you using cut only vinyls? No printing at all?
if so, the shine on glossy media shouldn’t be an issue as there’s no marks to read.
Sounds a lot like you should just invest in a decent roll cutter, the p&c machines usually have ok cutters but if you get a summa/graph tech your cuts will be...
Our 1640 does great blacks but we do create our own profiles.
Might be worth looking at the file on the job editor and using the colour replacement to give the black a 40, 40, 40, 100 or whatever and see how that turns out. Would be interesting to see what it thinks it should do with your...
You may have had it 9 months, but it may have been in a warehouse for years.
I believe it is plasticiser migration. Whenever we get this issue we just throw it on the solvent. Only ever had it on old media’s that have sat about for a long time.
