Good ideas - thanks for the input. The customer is still trying to decide. I will let you know how he decides. Narrow streets + 55& older community = nasty parking arguments. The VP of the company building the community says the residents are worse than 2 and 3 year old kids

  7. Pricing this job...unreasonable?

Your price is more than fair. If they think you are overcharging ask what they do and how much they charge. I bet they are "overcharging" too...I hate when people that have no idea how to do something think they know how much you should be charging.

  12. Awesome News for little ole me!

Long story short - I have been in business for myself (this go around) for a little more than 4 years here in South Florida. First two years I had some great growth. Then I expanded my other business (I restored muscle cars) and tried to work both businesses. After 2 years of doing that, I...
  13. Commission rate

Unless you have a track record with the person, I would just treat a broker like any other customer, 50% deposit with the order, balance due upon completion. They should be doing the same with their customer. Just think of it this way, if they were a straight commissioned sales person, they...
  14. Commission rate

If they are truly freelance, I'd say treat them as a broker. Give them your bottom line price and let them mark it up accordingly. That way, they pay you instead of you paying them :) BTW - That is how I started in this business. I brokered for a local shop. Quickly became one of his best...

I will be looking for one in the not too distant future - my days on ladders are pretty much behind me. I blew out my knee (torn ACL, MCL, and Meniscus) a few weeks ago while on a ladder and am having surgery Friday to repair the damage. Getting old sucks but luckily most of my work is...
