  3. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

not really dude, it's being more specific than you have been lol. It actually knows what it's talking about and pointing me in the right direction after only a couple of inputs ;)
  4. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

" Given that the mainboard's power-up relies on a signal from the main chip to enable the second 42V input, the issue could be in the power-up control circuitry around the main chip or in the signal path that manages this activation. Here are some targeted steps to investigate further: 1...

thanks for looking it up ;)
  6. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

Lets play bingo. Everyone pick a component and I'll swap it out with working board. What prize should the winner get? All entries pays $10 and the winner gets it all?
  7. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

I'm actually thinking to swap out the main chip with known working one from my other board with ethernet drop out issue. Image if it gets fixed and after all that work the new board has Eth problems too lol that would piss me off but I'm optimistic as the new printer is in good condition and not...
  8. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

of course, both shorted off board and shorts gone after replacing. I wouldn't come to that conclusion otherwise
  9. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

update: Replaced Regulator L4960 as well as AIC1086. Both were shorted. Now I get LED on servo board also. Close but no cigar! I'm thinking main chip/cpu :(
  10. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

what if main 42v rail is ok down to 5v and 3v but no signal from cpu to make secondary 42v active which powers up the machine after main switch is pressed?
  11. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

every issue is different, you will have to do the following and find the fault on your board As a basic start ; 1) With your IR camera, check for obvious shorts 2) Check electrolytic capacitors for shorts, and also ESR value 3) With your oscilloscope check clock signals to chips, and supply...
  12. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

update: I found two sorted components, will order and install. see how it goes
  13. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

ok so when you had to replace a component related to no power which were they lol. There can't be a million. Usually same component(s) fail on same boards with same symptoms, for example same mosfets blow when head cable shorts.
  14. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

if your advice had led to a fix I would have sent you a 100. still not too late lol. inbox me maybe lol
  15. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

man I asked you if you have repaired no power issue you said yes so I asked which parts(s) did you have to replace, instead of giving me a clear answer you went on about this and that lol. You either haven't fixed no power issue or you are holding back haha. At least AI doesn't say it knows the...
  16. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

I have manual and some know how. BTW what are you getting fixed on your board? Simply way to keep heads moist and fresh while board is being repaired is to do head soak. Refill cap tops every couple of days.
  17. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

haha im not falling for it
  18. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

AI is free advice and don't hold back hahahaha
  19. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

here is what AI says: The behavior you’re describing could indicate a failing capacitor or a component that has temperature-sensitive characteristics, such as certain types of semiconductors. Electrolytic capacitors can exhibit issues at lower temperatures, such as increased ESR (equivalent...
  20. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

This has to be world biggest mystery. Can human kind not figure out which electrical component on a main board fails when temps below room temperature of 20-22c. haha
