  1. Printable Vacuformable backlit

We've tried it a few times on our flatbed and it's possible, but very tricky. Your inks need to be really flexible and the art needs to be forgiving. I think they make inks specifically for vacuforming, might wanna look into it. I seem to remember some threads about it, try a few searches.
  2. Illustrator crashed while saving file

Addie, after all the time you've been on here, and countless other threads addressing this issue, do you really think it's us who simply "don't like your designs" rather than they are just plain bad, period? For chripesakes, I give up! Sorry all, just had to vent...
  3. Let me have it both barrels please

I guess you have it all figured out Addie...carry on.
  4. Let me have it both barrels please

Quit telling your customers to hire Dan! Dan is in a very far removed league from what any of your customers would be willing to pay. You need someone 1-2 years out of design school. And don't give me the "all designers are flaky prima donnas" bull crap line because I know from experience in...
  5. Let me have it both barrels please

BOTH barrels, here goes. Oh addie, why will you never learn? Like others have said in this thread, in the past I have seriously tried to give you the best, most solid piece of advice I could give you...and that is to quit wasting your time trying to be a designer. You have to face the fact you...
  6. Offset printer taking the plunge, Help Please!

Don't let em discourage you...I think their advice is wise, but since you are already doing a slew of offset I think you are most likely in a different situation than most. That said the pre press end of things IS totally different, I know firsthand from experience. I would also start trying to...
  7. Employee handbook

Snap! I love this site sometimes...the stuff people get called out on makes my day. Seriously.
  8. Here we go again.. The true test for the LX850 year 2 .

Wasn't trying to over analyze...agreed, your model is way a different game than most and you know it better than anyone. I guess I was just pointing out that a 180 k machine putting out over 1million sf non-stop 24/7 months on end is a pretty good purchase in my humble opinion, that's all!
  9. Here we go again.. The true test for the LX850 year 2 .

Wanted to add...I hear ya about HP service. We went through some nightmares...but in the end I feel they took care of us.
  10. Here we go again.. The true test for the LX850 year 2 .

Hmmm..I guess it's all relative to a ROI. I look at the fact that one LX machine did your entire job last year and say...one qurater or half of it this year? Your job last year was over a million sf wasn't it? Not sure how much the scitex machines you have were, but I bet it was way more than...
  11. Here we go again.. The true test for the LX850 year 2 .

I kinda take issue with vutek. As much as they may be workhorses and have good speeds, their output quality leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. I have highest quality samples off of them and our wimpy FB700 blows em outta the water quality wise. That said we don't position ourselves on...
  12. Corvette done this week

    Tight, yo.
  13. Happy Easter everybody

  14. Oops 5 million $ down the tubes

    Gnar.
  15. Switching our RIP machines to mac, old RIP machine for sale

We are in the process of switching out our rip machines to macs, so therefore are looking to unload our old PC RIP stations. They are workhorses and in great shape! Paid $3500 for them one year ago. If interested, please check out the following classified Ad...
  16. FLA unearthed multiple violations of the labor law at Apple factories

Non-Story. What IS a story though is the tool who wrote the Broadway show about Foxconn and apple, selling his story as non-fiction only to go on this American life and continue his lies. Later this American Life redacted their story as inaccurate after they uncovered a slew of inaccuracies...
  17. Tattoo shop logo.

Hmmmm. You're kinda far long in the process so not sure how helpful my suggestion would be, but as much as they are good designs in their own right - they all seem a little...um...."sissy" for lack of a better word to me? (for this application I'm saying) I mean, when I think of tattoo shop I...
  18. Suggestions on keeping file size managable?

Step 1. Search. Step 2. Introduce yourself and tell a story. Step 3. If you make all your rastered imagery 100 DPI at full size, that is plenty. Many will tell you less is even better. What type of files are you sending to the rip? PDF will most likely be your best bet for manageable file...
  19. Less is more wrap

I like it. Agree about the font, not really a fan. A few other nitpicky things...don't really like how the head of the eagle is cut off and boy, could ya make that TM bigger next time? ; ) Otherwise good job though, especially matching of the corners.
