It sounds to me like the problems peeps have w ups and FedEx is mostly due to ignorance on the shippers part. If you don't know there policies ans procedures it's not ups or FedEx fault its yours. If ur gonna be a shipper learn to ship. Or don't complain when your ignorance bites you...

im happy to report that i have destroyed most of the lowballers on dfw craigslist. i report them prohibited every time i see them, and they get flagged and removed...craigslist does not even seem to actually look at them they just auto remove them.

usually, i just do the layout design for them free with the printing, and if it needs to include a small "logo" then i include that also...anything more than 15-20 minutes of design time i start charging for.
i always let my customer know that certain kinds of design time is free to them...

you are never going to win this one with a desk top printer...ink will eat you up on this especially if its full coverage or even partial coverage...
find a local print shop in your area and make a deal with them where you provide the paper and they provide the copies on their copier...

in the digital print world...the only way i accept a word file is if i can retype it in something that will print.
word is extremely unstable and every computer that looks at the same file might see it differently, and print it differently.

4over type companies are good for some things, but i find them lacking in the real meat and potatoes of printing...
letterhead
envelopes
multi part forms
booklets
theres tons of money in this kind of printing that they just dont do...find a local digital printer and start a trade/retail type...
