  1. The Gandi is back Pred8tor

My lowly CET printer has an auto head height adjustment and it works great. Also - I run a ton of Ultraboard and have never had problems with the heads clogging.
  2. The Gandi is back Pred8tor

I got a sneak peek at this thing last year and they had it running at ISA earlier this year. Ran a 4x8 sheet of coro full coverage in just under 45 seconds. But you can't just multiply that and come up with 1900 sfh. There is time to load and unload and clean the sheets, too and that will take...
  3. Hanging Banner 'Stand'

What you want is out there and I have seen it... just can't remember where. It acts like one of those window shade things. You pull it down with a pole or string or whatever and it stays open. With the retractor you will still have to use the pole to keep it from retracting. I will look for it...
  4. Sign Business trends

Ummm... don't speak for the whole state. I have industry colleagues in Greensboro, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Thomasville and here in Charlotte and every one of us is very busy. One of my golf buddies runs another wide format shop here and they are doing a $1.3 million job for Lowe's this month.

  6. Researching new flatbeds

There is already an ongoing thread on this very topic started last week...
  7. Best Flatbed?

Yes... well, at least mine can with 6 different zones. can a flat bed (4x8 bed) be given two 4x4 "zones" with two different x/zero positions? so if the operator is careful, he can be printing on one end and setting up on the other end. of course this would only work with a flatbed that works...
  8. Profile Problem

Did you try using Legacy settings instead of the newer options?
  9. Postcard Layout

I haven't read all the posts on this - but in my experience of designing postcards - the purpose is for a call to action. if you put all the info on the card - there is no call to action and you confuse the reader who will just read it and ditch it (if they read it at all). Remember - you are...
  10. Best Flatbed?

Mike, Normally I would agree with you, but in this industry - there have been some pretty crappy cars... no matter who was driving them. Gandi has (had) a lousy reputation here in North Carolina due to several high profile failures at big providers. That being said - alot of the newer...

And it wasn't grainy before with 32 pl heads?
  12. wholesale banners

I just unwrapped 32 banners from Ga. Printco that are sewn - guess they job it out or hire a temp to sew.

  14. CET COLOR X-Press FK512 flatbed.. thoughts?

Ben, Don't know that I would characterize the relationships as "fired". DuPont and Lexjet both exited the business altogether and it had nothing to do with the printers from Flora. CET maintains a relationship with them. I'll ask Dave next week what the status is. Can't speak to the others.
  15. CET COLOR X-Press FK512 flatbed.. thoughts?

No. Their router program kinda is in limbo. I am in the market for a router/cutter right now. Looking at the Colex model. Don't need a ZUND or a Kongsberg/Esko for the price.
  16. CET COLOR X-Press FK512 flatbed.. thoughts?

No way. These are printed in long 125" strips and if the UV ink doesn't dry when being printed - it will be a sloppy mess and there will be mucho banding putting wet ink top of wet ink
  17. CET COLOR X-Press FK512 flatbed.. thoughts?

I do alot of product mockups for a paint brush/roller manufacturer that sells products in big box home improvement stores and such. We came up with a way to print directly to .005 polyethylene - which is pretty heat sensitive. We only fire the trailing lamp in a flash curing pass and it works...
  18. CET COLOR X-Press FK512 flatbed.. thoughts?

Its a dual stack - two heads at same carriage postion and two heads staggered about 1.5" closer. This enables you to do white first, white last and inline white as spot without reconfiguration. You can sort of do what you are asking by limiting the passes to single pass and single hit and using...
  19. So...I want to start a yard sign business.

I have been in business just over a year now (well, owning my own place - been in the business for over 20) - we were selected one of Top 50 Shops in the country by Wide Format Imaging magazine this year and it has been alot of long hours and hard work - but if you have a sound business plan and...
