  1. What's your favorite way of doing rivets? Poll

Always though someone should invent a tube like device that you could apply over the rivet and it would apply pressurized heated air to compress down onto the area whereby forcing the wrap material to conform to the rivet. don't go stealing my invention :rock-n-roll:
  2. What is the interior color of your office?

a combination of light oak slat board, off white painted drywall, various printed canvas tapestries and banners to hide various metal beams and cables, I'm not including a photo as it would scare some. Every corner is crammed with "stuff". I'd say altogether between our two buildings we have...
  3. Any Corel Gurus here?

In my experiences X7 is awesome when loaded on a good fresh pc (manually loading windows so as to not load all the fluff). We had X4 on an upgraded pc and it crashed all the time. When we got X7, we completely wiped the hd and started from scratch to load all the programs and such. I've yet to...
  4. Document color settings in Corel x5

You want to tweak the Default settings instead. The Doc settings are just for that document only. Every one you create thereafter will use the defaults. Below is mine but can't say if it's the ideal settings.
  5. Corel and Contour Color Question

Thanks to John in this post I was able to tweak the code to get a contour on all selected shapes with the contour color same as the shapes color. Sub CreateContourSameAsFilled() ActiveDocument.BeginCommandGroup "CreateContourSameAsFilled" Dim s As Shape, e As Effect, sr As ShapeRange...
  6. Pantone color of the year

We had a guy from Jersey named Mike opening a business and insisted on a certain neon greenish color for all his signs. We printed several swatches and once he picked "the one".we added it to our color palette as "Jersey Mike Green"
  7. Sending Large Files to a Printing Company.

Only time I see Corel make really large eps files is if fountain fills are used or raster images are included. MAY I REITERATE, DO NOT EXPORT OR SAVE AS AN EPS IF GRADIENT OR FOUNTAIN FILLS ARE PRESENT! Use "proper" pdf or tiff only.
  8. Sending Large Files to a Printing Company.

We're a sign shop, therefore we print and design. I prefer to have vector art so I can get rid of all the unwanted fluff and create a "cut ready" file if need be. A proper pdf is all fonts converted. PDF is the way to go. ai files will be become pdf's on my end without bleeds or crop marks anyway.
  9. How do you pay your installers?

Hourly. Might I also add that many times our installers have been tipped very generously by customers. Not us designers or the sales staff. btw, We have an exceptionally generous employer. This my career not just a job.

-if the design is all vector, eps as rgb or cmyk depending on colors used or pdf (especially if pantone colors are used). One of our printers won't do pdf's hence the use of tif's. NEVER jpg's -if both raster and vector, tif or pdf -if gradient/fountain fills are used NEVER eps. Tiff -raster...

  19. Calculating Rolled Media Length

I was working on this same thing way back when we would count vinyl inventory at the end of the year. can't remember the formula I came up with. Out of the bx 150' roll, Pi, radius, circumference, core size, media thickness etc. all had a play in the formula. Now our print tracks the media used...
