Here's another tip if you want to make it easier on them: Make sure to convert any strokes to outlines prior to exporting (object>path>outline strokes.) Strokes created in Illy always seem to get jumbled when imported into Flexi.

Fred's on it. Try opening in Illustrator and saving as Ill. Legacy v8.

I would recommend saving in native format throughout the design process. Then you can export as .eps prior to printing.

I thought this kind of stuff was basic knowledge! I couldn't function without Design Central and all it's tools. I hate working with sloppy vector art that folks "eyeballed" together rather than using exact measurements.

What RIP are you using? In Flexi, for example, you can set up your black as a spot color, and it will print using only the black ink. Otherwise, your RIP is most likely going to interpret your RGB black as mix of all four colors.

I don't see the vertical stripe, but it sounds like a dirty encoder strip.

First off, the best preventative maintenance for your printer is to keep it busy. You'll find that you have less clogged nozzle issues when the printer is constantly firing ink through the heads. Now, for your situation I would clean all around the heads, capping station, wiper and wiper...

CJ, I had this happen once. I wasn't following my own advice and had let the waste bottle become so full that the ink level was touching the waste tubes coming from the pump. Once the tubes touched the ink, they siphoned out all the ink.
