  2. 45 or 60 degree?

I can't remember if its better to use a 45 or a 60 for cutting Oracal reflective, I am pretty sure it's 60 degree at about 120 force, does that sound right?
  3. Why sell equipment and not shop?

Okay here is a big mystery that has me stumped. Every sign shop I've ever seen that is closing, is selling off the equipment and supplies and not selling the actual business. A small sign shop of about 900 square feet would be worth $100,000 with a decent customer base. Triple that for one...
  4. Credit card sales?

How many of your customers want to use a credit card or bank card to pay for their signs? 5 out of 10? 7 out of 10? Or if you don't accept credit cards, how much ask if you accept it?
  5. *Whew what a day*

My shop was open 10 - 2 today, but a guy wanted a rush order at 1pm for a 3 X 8 yellow banner two colors, text with outline and clipart graphic double sided. I used banner tape to reinforce it. I worked until 5:30 then came home, didn't quite finish it, but it's a tough job working by myself...
  6. Your sign estimating software

I posted this in General Software and never got a reply in 36 hours so you can delete that one. What kind of sign estimating software do you use? I've seen prices $249 - >$400. Also some are just a monthly fee of $39. I'd prefer to purchase it and not have a monthly fee, and I don't like the...
  7. Do not wet reflective material?

So you aren't suppose to wet reflective vinyl. Then we should we do? I prefer wet method because I can move it around until it's perfect. Dry method you get one shot, if its messed up, too bad. It really stresses me out to do dry.
  8. Little tip for easier weeding fixes

Have you ever started weeding a sign and peel up a letter or rip it and not know where it goes again? Well if you slightly do a stronger cutting force it will leave a cut line around everything you cut, so you can peel off a letter and see the exact ghost of it, making it easy to refit it again...
  9. Will they call back?

I had a customer who wanted an estimated on a Ford Cube truck (Box truck). I gave an estimate and he replied by email and said. "Thanks, That looks good. If we go with a new truck I'll definitely call you." Whats the chances he will call back? and is it possible he is waiting to purchase a new...
  10. Cutting Acrylic

I have 1/8" Acrylic and need to know the best way to cut it without breaking it. At first I thought a skill saw, but I believe that will knock chunks out, and also have a jig saw but not sure about that one either. What do you use?
  11. Sign Estimating Software

What kind of sign estimating software are you using? I see prices range from $249 up to $360. But also some of them are a monthly cost such as $39 a month. I don't like the ones built in Microsoft Excel, I prefer an actual program as it's not as cheaply made. Any tips on what I should use?
