you will smell the vinyl before you smell the inks...I have a VP-540i in a home office that is 13 x 15 ft. I smell the material heating up before I smell any ink fumes.

on the cuts, make sure you have a 45 degree blade and a good one, also check the blade holder to make sure there is not slack in it. lastly check the blade depth , it shoule only be out about a 16th of an inch.

Make sure the Printer is level left to right and then front to back...had a similar prob recently, harmless but annoying squeek was due to a tweeked frame cause by un-even floor. the actuall squeeking was the flex belt spacers inside that the plumbing to the head rides in simply rubing a little...

you do known that the SP series versacamms were this year updated to the SPi series, and the pricing is different,

puyll your catridge out, shake it some and check on the side opposite the label there is a rectangular hole at the bottom of that side with a little tab looking thing in there, make sure it is pushed back... ( I am assuming OEM catridges right???)

Actual print speeds are at the mercy of your materials. regardless of how fast the maximum speed is on these (or any other) printers, what will dictate the actuall working speed is the Charactaristics of the material to accept the inkset, dry the ink and the quality of output your looking for...
