  1. SC 540 banding halfway

Sounds like a head/s is getting weak. I would first look at any heads that are still original in that machine. Even if they don't have a hich shot count, they can deteriorate with age.
  2. SP540 --- Stops Printing and freezes "processing" Error Code # 1670462

A lot of these errors are firmware related. Go to Roland site, support, support wizzard, and make sure you have the latest firmware for your model printer. If you already have the latest firmware, re-install it again anyway. I found this to correct many of thse problems. Good luck.
  3. Peck4...

I think you have it backward, the Co-peck is strictly for pulling a report to send to Roland or a tech. You can't view the report or do parameters. The "Peck" is for pulling reports, getting parameters and upgrading firmware.
  4. Service Call 0010...?

0010 is an internal problem with the printer. All external network components should have no bearing on this error. If upgrading or reinstalling the network firmware in the printer doesn't resolve the problem, you most likely need to change the mainboard.
  5. VP-540 & Banding

Too high of a heat setting can also cause banding. The ink dries before the dots spread out enough to blend together. Also possible the heads are physically out of alignment. If you know how to get into service mode check the bias vertical, and horizontal calibrations.
  6. Just stops printing and states Not Connected in VersaWorks

Is the printer firmware up to date? The VP should be at 3.80. You can also try updating the network card firmware on the printer.
  7. Replaced Heads, now what?

You probably have to do a "limit intialize". Your probably not capping properly and that's why you getting drop-outs. Also accounts for your 105 error.
  8. SP-300 to SP-300v

Yes... What he said. Once an SP-300, always a SP-300. Only a dongle copy of VersaWorks made for that machine will work. Although you don't have to re-install Versa, just plugging in the dongle will do it.
  9. Service Call 0010...?

The network card is built into the mainboard on that model so if there is a bad component in the network section, it won't necessarily affect the other functions of the mainboard.
  10. Older Versacamm

You can't set a random IP. It must coincide with your computer IP. The first 3 sets of digits should be the same on all your networked equipment and the 4th set unique to each item on the network. Since that printer is new to you, you should reset the network card before assigning an IP. If you...
  11. bad DX4 head

Not sure about your mirror image problem but it looks like you have encoder strip issues. Try cleaning your encoder strip... rubbing alcohol only, not solvent. As far as your other issue, check that all the cables going from the heads to the carraige board are seated properly. Make sure the...
  12. How do you test a dx4 printhead?

If you can't get the head to fire at all after several medium cleanings, it's probably dead. You can swap cables from the suspect head to a good head and try it but if the head blew the fuse on the mainboard, it will blow the fuse for the head you swapped it with. Make sure the machine is...
  13. Solaris Vs. Triangle MLD

I can't understand why people buy a Roland printer for the quality then use 3rd party inks. Sure the cartridge price may seem a cheaper but figure out how many prints you get from a cartridge and see what your really saving per print. Certainly not enough to pay for a head that blows prematurly...
  14. Ink Contamination Issue

Sometimes it's just a simple thing. Check your wipers and scraper. If your wipers are shot they are leaving ink residue on the heads.
  15. Versacamm reading problem

A network card reset is for when Versa Works doesn't get the media width from the printer. If the printer itself does not read the media, it can be the pinch roller sensor. The printer does not read the "media" it reads the position of the pinch rollers to determine the media width. The sensor...
  16. Light Magenta out of registration on XC-540

If you can't fix the problem by making adjustments in user mode, you may have to make head adjustments in service mode. (Horizontal, bi-directional default, etc.) You need the service mode code to get to these adjustments. If your machine is still under warranty, contact your Roland service Dept.
  17. Changing pinch rollers on sp300v

Spud, With the machine on and the pinch rollers down, try pulling the material forward by hand. It should be very hard if not impossible to pull without damage. If this is the case, the problem is probably not the rollers. If it moves fairly easy, you can try changing the rollers first as GTS...
  18. Versacamm SP-300 head replacement, few questions.

That fuse usually blows when the head cables are reversed or the foil ends get messed up and short out. They can also blow when the cables are plugged in or pulled out while the main power switch is on. Always shut the main power AND pull the plug when working on anything electric in these...
  19. No roland service reps?????????????

Ova, You can clean the encoder strip and encoder sensor with rubbing alcohol, nothing else. If that doesn't help, you can get one flip out of the strip by punching new mounting holes in it. You'll see black dots where the holes have to be punched. This will save you a couple of hundred bucks.
  20. lifespan of cap tops?

Cap top symptoms When you get drop outs on your nozzles and a medium cleaning doesn't bring it back, this could be a sign that the cap top needs to be replaced. You can put a few drops of cleaning solution on the cap top and it should absorb fairly quickly. If the solution just sits there or...
