Thanks for the info. I getting the hang of tweaking the available controls to get what I need done. Resolution, passes, density etc. Very annoying that no one mentioned the lack of profiles when I was asking the dealer about swapping to ES3 though. Need to learn how to use the color matching...
Thanks for being so helpful... but I already have all of those.
ES3 is as tough as rhino hide. I find it drys about 6 times faster than SS21 and there is virtually no odor. You can't scratch it without ruining the vinyl. Shame it's so expensive. Have not done any banners but I can't see how it...
I'm using a CJV150-130 with ES3 ink.
I switched to ES3 due to the strong smell of the SS21 ink. I don't see how the ES3 ink could be any tougher btw. I can't scratch it without destroying the vinyl. "Easy to scratch" was one of the common warnings against swapping to ES3. Maybe they changed it...
So you can load SS21 profiles and use them for ES3 ink? I bet I could find a few that worked for General Formulations 230 media by trial and error if I had a few hundred to choose from. Why are there no profiles for ES3 ink?
Still looking for instructions on how to switch from SS21 to ES3 equivalent ink. "do a flush" does not help me. I don't see a "flush" handle anywhere! Do I find "Flush" in the service mode menu someplace? Or is the menu term not the word "flush" ? I realize no one owes me any info but if someone...
Interesting stuff. Thanks to all who posted!
I'd be pretty surprised if any printer manufacturer actually makes their own ink. Looking at the cartridges from Mimaki and Roland being virtually identical reinforces this notion. My guess is some factory that specializes in the manufacture of ink...
I wonder why so many aftermarket ink brands say you can just swap to their ink without any flushing or other didoes? Maybe they are hoping you will ruin your printer with their ink... so you'll never buy more ink from them...
How many here have ruined their printers by "hot swapping" to...
An air scrubber would be great too! (I've seen that thread) But what I really need is instructions on how to swap from OEM ink to third party ink on a Mimaki CJV150.
Anyone?
Thanks.
I do use ventilation. The tech told me the Ritemedia ink for the Mimaki smelled the same as the Ritemedia ink I used in my Roland. I never felt ill running the Roland. I can't stay in the room with the SS21 ink.
I don't care about the cost difference. It's negligible.
I can't find...
I want to change to third party ink (Ritemedia) on my Mimaki CJV150. (This will "void" my warranty on anything the the third party ink damages.) My tech told me to do a custody wash and then put in the new ink. This doesn't sound right to me. I thought I was supposed to wash out the old ink with...
Is there a setting like Roland's "Max Impact" from Versaworks in Mimaki's Rasterlink7? I have a red that I need for a specific customer and I can hit it with rasterlink7 "colour adjust" but then it messes up other colours because it's a global setting.
Thanks Sol! I laminate everything so I don't care about scratch resistance. I use Ritemedia ProColor ink in my Roland for 15 years with no issues. Doesn't stink and drys way faster than SS21 stuff. And 75 bucks a cartridge vs $187 for the SS21!
Maybe a petition from hundreds of customers would...
