  1. Can I use Mimaki 20/20 ink in Roland sp540i

Are you REALLY considering screwing up your rather expensive printer to save a few hundred $$ on the wrong ink?
  2. Installed today

Yes all signs of the same size will fit in any of their spots. This way there's never a blank in the middle.
  3. Installed today

We installed this directory today. Upper part is HDU lower part is ACP there are rivet nuts where the tamper proof stainless machine bolts hold the tenant panels.
  4. wth is wrong with people?

I had a builder come in and say "you make signs, how much do they cost" I said, "you build houses, how much do THEY cost" he actually got my point
  5. New Guy 25 years later I’m back!

Yeah, once you're bitten by the sign bug it's got you for life in one capacity or another. Welcome back to the fold. Years later, it's rewarding to drive by one of your creations and see it still doing its job.
  6. Does anyone know if there is a way for the printer to bypass reading/detecting ink cartridges?

You can buy chips for $10 each, google it
  7. Push-through cabinet that is face lit?

Why do push-thru? If a 3/4" projection is called for, bond 3/4" characters to a flat face, they will look the same as push-thru.
  8. Wrapping a 50ft tall concrete silo. Anyone ever done something similar? Pricing and time?

This post has to be a spoof https://silo.org/storage-methods/
  9. Wrapping? A Metal Box 4x8

The wrapping idea in my opinion is the wrong direction. Contact the trailer manufacturer and get the paint color number. Go to an auto paint supplier and acquire the paint. Prep the box and spray it the right color. Not only will the paint outlast the wrap about 10-1, the match will be exact.
  10. Cnc machine question

We've been running a Laguna 5x10 machine for the last 12 years. The machine is well built has all the capabilities of more expensive rigs and Laguna's service is responsive (we've needed it 3 times). Things to keep in mind. Get a machine larger than you think you need. Get a spindle more...
  11. solar for a sign cabinet

We've done a bunch of solar to light signs. To do it correctly would cost too much for it to be a temporary solution.
  12. Inflation

My gut was $2500 each when I looked at the pic. Since when did the actual costs of doing business keep in line with the increase of materials costs. Did the cost of HDU increase by .28 per dollar? I think not.
  13. (OKC) Mimaki/Inkjet Field Service Tech Looking For Possible Work

Sorry Jag, I guess that info is key. It's a Mimaki CJV 150-160
  14. Why does Mimaki ink have a shelf life date?

Those are day & night view. The domes were made by Gemini and sprayed with Lacryl. Coastal & Wellness lettering is push-through cut on our CNC and also painted with Lacryl. Chiropractic letters are black/white acrylic. Thanks for the kind words
  15. Why does Mimaki ink have a shelf life date?

My reason for asking is that I am having a clogging issue and I have a couple of out of date cartridges with pirate chips. Could that be the cause?
  16. (OKC) Mimaki/Inkjet Field Service Tech Looking For Possible Work

Have you ever encountered this. My test prints have always been near perfect. Then I started seeing washed out colors and did a new test print. Only about 1/2 the lines that should show printed. I did a few ultra cleaning cycles and got most back. My next print was 8' long. By the end the colors...
  17. CNC pricing for other sign shops?

I can see problems with that scenario. Dear TSM in Phoenix, I have a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" thick aluminum and need 200 6" letters profile cut. I'll bring the sheet right over.
  18. CNC pricing for other sign shops?

Keep track of all the time you spend. If a file needs 1/2 hour of tweaking to make it useable, somebody has to cover the cost of that time. Your software will tell you how much time it will take to cut the job. Figure what you need per HR. to run your shop/machine, add it set-up and clean up...
  19. Ugh! New Brand Guide (RANT)

In my town there is a Downtown Historical Board. At a review of a sign we were proposing they shot us down and told us to redesign and appear next month because the sign covered too much of the store front. I downloaded a picture of the downtown center at the turn of the century with about every...
