  1. Polymer 3d signs for brail

I had an enquiry from a client last week for brail signage. I managed to track down a little bit of info and established that a Polymer sign machine is the best for the job. Has anyone had experience with this type of sign/material or process (polymer) ? http://www.novapolymers.com/ Cheers M1
  2. Production workflow & Print Management Software

Our sign & graphics warehouse is expanding and we are looking for Print Management software to help make production more transparent and run smoother from the front desk. Is there currently anything on the market that is not overly expensive and easy to use? Cheers
  3. DC4 quality

I dont think changing the lpi will affect the brightness of the colour. Personally I think you need to look at the colour breakdown of each part of the image your trying to print. When it comes to screens/halftones I generally use 80lpi. Though this is not ideal on large halftone areas (over...
  4. dirtbike graphics

Word of advice on cutting, outsource it. I do and it litterally takes less than 7mins per kit to cut. FYI, I never waste time using my new Summa as there is a much quicker way ;)
  5. Color Control

I dont think this is possible in CC. If you have a HDD installed you can reprint a job but thats it I think. Setup your file correctly to the media width and select number of prints and press print :)
  6. Dc4

the sensor is in the print head unit. Once the media is loaded the sensor tracks across the media until it finds the end. Then you must adjust the clamp rollers. If the media is smaller than the minimum clamp roller width then I dont think the machine will accept it.
  7. Which media for each application

Ha, nice one gents. Does anyone use the Avery 900 Supercast for any of the above? Tho I like the idea of using one film for everything. Setup one print media profile and your done :D
  8. Which media for each application

Im looking for feedback on the type of media people are using for the below applications. I think this may also help educate not only myself but many who are either new to vinyl or have just been using the same old material because they are afraid of changing suppliers or brands. Could you...
  9. If you had the choice Summa or Inkjet?

From what I have seen i dont think this is true with small lines or text under 10 point. The samples I have received appear to be way sharper than anything an inkjet can put out especially when required outside of standard CMYK. I will be getting an inkjet later for run of the mill printing but...
  10. If you had the choice Summa or Inkjet?

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. I think since 99.% of print companies in my area have an inkjet machine I feel there is a huge opportunity here for something that can run rings around them when it comes to high impact colours, special effects and durability. One reason I finaly chose the...
  11. If you had the choice Summa or Inkjet?

Ok, finally have the cash together to buy a machine. Originally I was set on buying a Summa DC4sx due ot the quality of the colours. My business is 90% small offroad vehicle graphics (buggies/bikes etc). Question is has anyone out there in our highly competitive world of printing purchased a...
  12. Foil or Roland SP540 for vehicle wraps?

Yes sorry my type error should read VS540 ;)
  13. Foil or Roland SP540 for vehicle wraps?

Ive narrowed my quest for a vehicle/bike graphics printer down to a Roland SP540 metallic printer or the Summa DC40sx. Question is, does foil (especially gold/silver) have the same ability to stretch with the vinyl like inkjet prints or does it crack under pressure when stretched too far? Or...
  14. Foil stretch-a-bility

Ive been advised that Latex print/ink is the most stretchable ink media available, followed by inkjet. Question is, do foil prints stretch and flex just a easily during installation or do they resist shaping to a curved surface and crack or break when a media is shaped/stretched on diffcult...
  15. Looking for reviews of the Summa DC4sx

    Thanks Fred ;)
  16. Looking for reviews of the Summa DC4sx

Just a quick one to enquire if there any comparison in terms of image quality and materials availability to the Gerber Edge FX? Cheers Mike
  17. BN20 - not impressed with colour depth

Great news, . I had a feeling he wasnt confident with the machine yet but I will suggest what you have mentioned and see what happens. Im visting the dealer on Monday again and will keep you posted ;)
  18. Small format and Rich Colours Wanted :)

Thanks Mike, I will look into the Summa as well. I also recieved a suggestion to also consider the Mimaki CJV30-60 24inch machine though Im not sure why it is so cheap being a printer/cutter at under 5000 USD.
  19. Looking for info on the Mimaki CJV30-60

In another post under Roland I mentioned that I was considering a Roland BN20 for printing sport vehicle graphics (buggies/Quad bike, Go Carts etc) Standard process of printing onto white or clear vinyl with a clear heavy duty laminate. For the later this is where white ink would be a huge...
