  1. VP-540 prints are spongy/grainy

Room temp had been 65, now I've got it about 72 to see if that makes any difference. So far I'm feeling sweaty. All Roland inks and parts. I use various media, concept glossy calendared, Roland pcv2, 3m ij1080, and some others. Always with appropriate profiles. I think you're correct in it being...
  2. VP-540 prints are spongy/grainy

Thanks for the input, So when I am in Versaworks under Printer Controls, for Heater Controls should I select Use Custom Settings or Use Default Media Settings? Both read (40C and 45C)
  3. VP-540 prints are spongy/grainy

It's a vector image, no issue with the file. No part of the print is good, its equally spotty throughout. So, this morning I put a humidifier in the office, waited a couple hours and printed the same file. And the print is MUCH BETTER. Maybe not perfect, but passable! Yesterday the humidity was...
  4. VP-540 prints are spongy/grainy

Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue. I've been noticing prints coming out spongy-looking, not terrible quality but enough that I can notice a difference and I know my print quality (from exact same, un-edited files) was better a year ago. There's got to be a cause. - My test print...

  8. Suggestions Looking for suggestions- "what to call my new work area?"

I'm dying here :D I may just run with it. But Hillsdale is more than just a bit backwoodsy....
  9. Shrinking Material causing failures

Humidity in the shop can cause this even if just for a few hours. Funny thing is, if its too dry you'll also start drying out that adhesive wherever its cut. If you must use a repositionable vinyl, don't cut it until right before the install.
  10. Suggestions Looking for suggestions- "what to call my new work area?"

Funny, last week I finally moved into my donkey-barn-converted-sign-shop. And I've been struggling to name it. Pretty sure I'm just going to make a humble little sign that says "sign shop" and move on :D

No, those hold signs flat to a post.

  14. Where did I get these brackets?

Do you have a link? I did a search there first and didn’t come up with them.

  16. Where did I get these brackets?

uh what? Can't say I have ever seen sign brackets at the hardware stores.
  17. Where did I get these brackets?

I bought a bunch of these 2 years ago and can't for the life of me recall where I got them from. I know there are similar options out there but these are inexpensive and functional for mounting signs perpendicular to a round post. Anyone know? EDIT: Looking back through invoices I found that I...
  18. How to get your printer off the truck!

None of you guys into offroading? Just winch it out onto the liftgate!
  19. VP540 sudden deflections on cyan head

In case anyone is concerned  while waiting on a new head I gave the current one a good ass whooping and got it 90% clear! I'm confident if I keep working on it I will get it nearly 100%. Lesson learned, use quality cap tops!!
  20. What's proper etiquette if a prospect sends you a competitor's proof for pricing?

I used to be respectful to my fellow shop owners by refusing to use their artwork without permission... til I realized they will never do the same for me. Lesson learned! I try to produce something BETTER though, always!
