I have found, that if you make a tiny incision in the vinyl, maybe 1/4 inch, right where the tape/filament starts under the vinyl, it seems to be a little more friendly to us amateurs. Be sure to leave enough to get a hold of. I wrap it around a bolt, or something. My .02.

How bout a 'slice' of 3/4 inch, pressure treated plywood, sandwiched in between the foam? Plenty of structural strength, and it'd be good for probably 20 years. Or, step up to real marine plywood?

I just acquired a Chevy HHR, little panel truck thingy. It's white/white/white, lotta white. It has a fixed window on the rear side, and a operational window in rear passenger door. I've got some 3M white window perf, I want to put on these two windows, but not sure about on the roll down...
