AI CS5- how can I check the rez of a bitmap

I use AI mostly to open other peeps files and then save to a version
that works well with Flexi- this has alway puzzled me, I cannot figure
a way to check the rez on an included raster (it is always to low- but I
need to tell how low:smile:) Thanks Gene

In Illustrator CS5, with the object selected (and only that object), look on the Properties Bar at the top of the screen, and on the left side you should see the resolution defined in PPI. This is assuming that you are using the Essentials workspace (default) in AI.

When you have the image selected it shows up in the tool bar at the top of the screen.
If an image is in a group or a clipping mask you'll need to double click to enter isolation mode so you can select the actual image... or just find the image in the layers palette and select it that way.

If it is grouped or has a clipping mask on it however, the PPI will not show at the top.

Thanks to all- I do sometimes see the rez on the properties bar. I guess I
was hoping for something like the 'properties' tab with more complete
info. Gene
