Am I at fault? Or is this guy just being a little too picky?

You are doing the right thing though man. Being the adult and having integrity shows the type of business person you are. It sucks, but you should feel better after doing it. You're setting a good level of customer service.

My response on something like this, especially from someone so far away who will have no impact on my business whatsoever, would be to tell him to take a hike. If you created exactly what he sent you, and can prove THAT, then you DO have a leg to stand on. What was this, a $25 job?

I think he is more bothered by the fact that he couldnt put a decal on his $48k truck straight, and wants to make sure he has backups to try it again.

Good eye. That decal there is ALREADY INSTALLED. Poorly too.

A constant point that happens with self-installers.

had a guy do his own install, claiming "its just like a bumper sticker, anyone can do to" seems the creases, seams, uneven, etc... were getting some bad jeering from everyone who saw it. the next sign he had us do it and then started nit-picking it when he came to pick it, had to get the ruler out and show him that we were square/level to within 1/64 on an inch. needless to say there was a nice PITA charge on the invoice

Regardless of your shop policies in place or not following the..... just replace them and move on. It can't cost you more than about $5 to do it.

If he ever calls again.... send them to someone else, cause you're too busy.

It is not complicated at all.

This is a friggin decal. Nothing ore. It is not furniture. It is not a work of art. And not one leaf on the planet is symmetrical. Only man made fake art is like that. In fact all art has some kind of point that creates tension. Art has to have some kind of tension to be art. That is why Abraham Lincoln's hands are different in his monument.

I would tell him so sad. It's over. Then move on to work that creates large four figure checks instead of having to put up with this pidly nit picking nonsense.
