Definitively not Japanese kanji.

I did a search and looked for any site that you could download the symbols and I couldn't find any. there are sites that have symbols but you kind of have to have a clue as to what it could mean to narrow down your search as it's all visual. Hope Matthrew's wife will be able to help ID these for you.
