a new dongle should be available for a reasonable charge

I believe that once they have verified that you are a legitimate customer they should supply a new dongle at a reasonable price. The 'opportunity cost' of being badmouthed in public forums far outweighs the small number of legitimate users that will cheat on a second license in this fashion.

My products use a fairly effectioe software licensing scheme that is computer locked. If a registered user tells me he has a new computer or that they had to reformat / reinstall the old computer (this will invalidate the license) then I just give them a new license, no questions asked.

The value of good customer service and a good reputation is really important to me personally.

If somebody exceeds 5 replacement licenses in a single year then they are charged a $10 service charge for each additional license and I have an email 'discussion' with them about WHY they are burning so many licenses so frequently. BTW, this has NEVER happened, there is one guy in Germany that MAY pay $10 sometime soon, but not yet.

As far as Cadlink go with their dongle protection it sucks.
I am currently running a designer package and 2 P&C Version 7.1.
I am desperatley looking for another designer package but Cadlink insist I must upgrade all 3 existing and buy a new designer!!!!
Well I most definitley cannot afford that at the moment and 7.1 isn't broke some I'm not going to replace it.
On a subnote our designer package has a few extras like an export function which was added on previously which Cadlink are now saying you can't have on a designer package!!!
And they wonder why piracy and cracked copies are killing software development.

It has come to this.....
Can someone tell me how to copy or emulate a usb and parallel dongle?

no, not hardly impossible at all.
It is actually very easy to do.
signlab 7 was hacked within days of release.. I would imagine that 8 is already done as well.

Really tech I'd love to have a second workstation dongle. They make you buy a second site licence for way too much. Can't even get it to network between two computers. I like to design on laptop and cut on desktop. What a nightmare swapping dongles back and forth between them. Lost data number of times cause it kicks you out of the program. The computer guy that does my work doesn't think it can be done .

I don't want a cracked version I would rather have a way of emulating or replacing the dongle.

The t'interweb groans under the weight of cracked and hacked versions of Cadlink. If dongle protection is supposed to protect Cadlink's revenue stream then clearly it ain't working.

Cadlink is a god awful pile of cack... I've only ever owned one version of Cadlink and that was the first DoS version... as soon as Corel came out it was ta, ta, Cadlink.

All these "specialist" sign making software packages do the same thing... take what Corel does and then copy it... badly. SignWizard is a prime example and that's a pile of cr@p too.

Corel x5 is out now, it's affordable, it's got no dongles and once you get on the Corel upgrade path you can always afford the latest version.

I have used Signlab since 3.1 and am now upto 7.1 and although Signlab is s**t it is the best of the s**t....lol
Signlab is a great design tool but I have not used it to print since having some serious issues with ccolour matching. It is to complicated to be a viable RIP.
I work with Coreldraw also I have been using Corels products since the 80s and it is just amazing now.

yes on the emulator

yes the dongle can be emulated or duplicated if you have the original dongle. would love to try the crack signlab 8 but still too chicken to try this one. Still dongless still writing to the company hoping for some sort of results, at this point it isnt about the dongle its how i have been treated and boy that ticks me off just a smidge
