can't find crop marks

having an issue today with my xc540 and xr640 i have printed and laminated a few sheets of decals and i keep getting the "can't find crop marks" message when i try to cut. i got it on both machines and i tried switching the sheets on the machines. i did a manual cleaning tried to see if any dust or something was causing the issue. any ideas on fixing this issue?

Glossy laminate? Try to put a piece of matte laminate over the cropmarks? Otherwise you'll have to align manually...

I could be off here, but make sure your print is square. Is it not finding the first mark for origin or does it look for all four and fail? (I've got a Mimaki so it might do things differently) - I run into this problem from time to time on larger prints to diecut. By process of elimination, i figured out after going over media comp over and over, that if I don't have it square on the take up roll the print gets pulled sideways, and the plotter wont find the back marks. Nowadays anything over 6' scares me every time I have to diecut. I will fight it for 15 minutes and end up reprinting, then it works fine.

I could be wrong, but that's all i could figure on this end. Best of luck!

i will try the matte lam but this is material i have been using for years with no issues. every once in a while it would happen but you restart everything and re-do it and it worked. i have been going nuts for a few hours

If you have it set to center the print on the sheet, then hit poll sheet size after printing it will throw off the contour cut because you can almost never get it back in the machine with exactly the same amount of printable area.

If you don't hit poll sheet size after printing it usually works but I just use a 1" from the edge instead of centering the print.

If your brave enough, put the cutter blade directly on top of the point of the little "v". Push the cutter blade down and make sure it's exactly on it. Then just choose cut only, and turn off the crop mark box. I've used this in a pinch, doesn't fix the issue, but you can still cut out the prints, just keep in mind won't account for paper being in crooked or distortion from laminating.

ok i got both machines working.
i found this website similar to signs 101 (sorry i have been unfaithful i hope you can forgive me) it's called myversacamm.com and it's all roland tips and help.
they told me to put the crop marks on centered on the cutting strip. run the blade over to make sure it's in line. move the blade back to the right and hit the base point. not sure what this did but both machines are working now
