CNC cutter egly edges in ACP

Just got a new bit and thought it would help but actually made it worse. Anyone what I'm doing wrong? I'm moving at 1200mmps and got my spindle spinning at 1500rps. Any advice on this?

Both sides came out ugly :(

You are running at 90K RPM? thats way too fast! Also 2800 inches per minute is way too fast of motion.

We cut ACP with our .5hp spindle at 100 Feet per minute with a spindle rotation of 28K RPM using a single o-flute upcut 1/8" CED

Well my program to run the machine is in metric and maybe I'm not converting it right? I'll post pics of what my settings are

Also my program overrides spindle speed. So it's set at 1500

Are you 100% certain that your spindle is overridden to 15K? Because that's the only thing I can think of that might be causing it. Every other speed seems like it should be fine- but that 6250 RPM on that one program is far too low, in my opinion. I tend to run the spindle at near max to get the speed and good finished edges.

First see if you can change your setting on the program you are using and GaSouthpaw is right, we typically run at 18000 rpm and 60-100 inches / min. speed. The bit you are using might be an issue too if it's too cheap it wont cut clean. We only use Belin / Onsrud.

Looks like your using a .25" bit, wrong kind too. We use a 1/8" straight flute end mil. Not sure what your speed settings are. We cut around 3.5 inches per second @ 16,000 rpm. Perfect clean cuts all the time.

We being UK based work in metric. We run at 20,000 RPM with cutting speed of 20 - 30 mm per second in climb direction using 5 - 5mm 2 flute carbon tools. We cut just fine unless we are using a really cheap acm and then it can get ragged, but on .3mm skin it cuts beautifully

We typically cut ACM at 18000 rpm at about 100 ipm with a 1/4” single ‘O’ flute up cut bit from Onsrud. If they are small pieces and we want to make sure they don’t move it if we are cutting printed sheets if acm we use a down cut single ‘O’ flute. Absolutely perfect edges. We have a 5’x10’ Multicam with 11hp spindle.

Absolutely the wrong bit. Single O flute up cut bit gives the best result. I will only use Onsrud 65-000 series or my favorite is the Belin 33000 series. Same geometry but the Belin bit's polished backside has tighter ripples and I feel it gives me a slightly better cut. Wensco Sign supply in Grand Rapids Michigan stocks the Belin if you can't find a closer source. This is a "g" I cut at 12,000 rpm and 150 inches per minute (63 mm per second, or 3810 mm per minute) which gives me a very clean cut and good chips. This "g" is straight off the router and this was with the same bit that I've used for over 4 years.

I used to use the Belin 33000 for years. It did a fine job but then I went to work for X-Edge products and our tools are far superior to anything I have every used in my 25 years in the field. For ACM use the Viper Series XV2230 or XV2232 and run 150 ipm @ 20,000 rpm. Absolutely beautiful. Our Razor series for Sintra, UHMW, HDPE etc. is amazing too. Cutting 1/2" sintra at 1,000 ipm single pass with a 50k rpm spindle! "O" series for the best acrylic edges you have ever seen. Sorry I get a bit excited some times but everything I am saying is true. Whats funny about all this talk of bits, for our machine we have run belin, onsrud, amana, and a few others and the bits that last the longest and cut the best are $1.72 bits from china.

The best snap blades I've ever used for an Olfa were some cheapo blades from China.

No doubt China makes some quality products. The problem is they usually aren't branded so you can't tell what's good and what's not until you try them. With that said, the difference in price is not life changing and I'll buy American made when I can. It's getting harder all the time. China is going to own us someday.

That and the amazing blades you used once might be total crap the next time you order them.
