Copying old software cd's

Hey guys, I have a cutter i use for the small cut vinyl stuff that is about 6 years old. The software it came with to change the blade depth, offset and all that isn't made anymore and the cd is pretty scratched up. It works fine but i would like to copy the cd to a new disc to make sure i have it incase anything happens to it.

The cutter is a old GCC Sable one from Ordway and they said they have no trace of another disc if i ever needed it.

Should i just be able to drag and drop the files from the cd contents (in windows) to a blank one and burn or do i need a special program to make it work?

Thanks so much!

Drag and drop the files that you are wanting into your burning program (something like Nero) and then burn it to a disk.

Depending on how bad the scratches are, you might want to try to drag and drop it into a folder on your computer and then from there put it into a project in your burning software and burn away. Sometimes using a scratched disk as the source in burning a copy may not work even though you are able to use the disk otherwise.

Most any CD/DVD burning software will have an option to Copy Disk...

The only issue would be how those scratches interact with that process of copy and burning. I have had a couple that didn't like to burn from a CD with scratches, but you could still play or load what was on that very same CD.
