I use an air miles Visa card and although I pay $120 a year for it, I put just about everything on it.

I have accumulated plenty of air miles and they also offer products.

I have my eye on a beautiful gas BBQ 1000 sq in cooking area and every conceivable extra u could want!!!!

That or 2 first class tickets to Europe both ways.....

If your goal is convenience and not installment payments, you may want to look at what a PayPal account has to offer:

  • PayPal Mastercard Debit Card works for online and local purchases.
  • PayPal credit card plugin for your browser creates a one time use credit card for any online purchase that doesn't accept PayPal accounts.

I use AMEX Business for everything. Always great no issues other than some businesses don't accept Amex. BOA Business Visa as my secondary if thats the case. No fees and we get points. But it takes years to build up enough points to buy something worth anything.

Shop around for the card that gives you the most back. We stumbled across a Travelocity Mastercard a couple of years back that gave me a $5000 credit limit. I put EVERYTHING we buy at the shop on it and pay it off weekly. Right now we've got around $1300 to apply toward our next vacation.

i have a paypal account to take payments, was just tired of paying with cash at the post office and wanted to look into a card. Fred does paypal offer a credit card with a limit of $1,000 or less? I'm that big, so no need for it.

They offer a debit card pretty much for the asking. They offer a credit card which requires their approval.

Funny you should ask that question now....I've been shopping around for a personal cc that offers some kind of rewards.
I found this site which gives you all the info for cards...not sure if there's an american site that is similar

Gabagoo...did you get the air miles visa through a bank?

I've often considered the american express air miles card but I'm worried the amex isn't as accepted as visa here.

Yes it is through a Canadian bank mind you. CIBC Aerogold.... The air miles = 1 mile for every $ spent. return flight to Europe 60,000 miles. First class 80,000 miles

Kick azz BBQ 182,000 points.

I like putting everything I can on the card as it gives me an additional 15 -30 days to pay. With a 19% interest rate we never miss the
payment lol
Oh that reminds me, I purchased my Summa and Mimaki jv3 with software on that card.... That racked em up pretty quick

The debit card offers 1 1/2% cash back at the end of each month. Since we accept PayPal for payments and generally have a balance there, I use the heck out of the Debit card for business purchases.

amex has saved me thousands of dollars. i get a flat 1% cash back on everything, and 5% on fedex...it also PROTECTS me on purchases...i have used it on every large piece of equip i have...i have charged back 3 of those pieces of equip because the sales person lied to me about it, or it was packed like doodoo and was destroyed when i got it and they did not want to replace it...and i won the battles.

as far as accepting cc, why wouldn't you accept amex, most real business use it...2% is not that big of a deal, especially when its guaranteed money...this is a no brainer...id rather have guaranteed $$$ than a bounced check and no money...

my processer is set up on same bill cycle as visa and mc so i get my $ at same time when it funds. i also shopped around and pay VERY low rates for v/mc...

I've accepted credit cards for years, but not AMEX or Discover. Their percentage and transaction fees are more than Master/Visa. Most people just whip out another card, so I haven't lost any sales because I don't want to pay a higher fee to the credit card company.

We don't take AMEX or Discover either. Almost everyone has a Visa/MC in their wallet if they just dig a little deeper. If I'm already taking a hit on it, sorry, I'm not taking a bigger hit for those two cards.

That being said, I've had a capital one card for years that I hardly use, and after 7 years, I just looked, and I just now have enough points to fly somewhere round trip in the US.

To say you do not lose any sales because you do not take a card is very hard to prove.....When I traveled with a company Amex it became my main reason for choosing a gas station, cafe, motel, etc.....Sometimes I forgot to ask in advance and got stuck putting a business expense on my personal credit card....That meant more paperwork for me as I had to do 2 expense reports....So next time around I just avoided those businesses...And I am sure they kept believing they never lost any business but they did....

We take all forms of credit cards at our shop, but I do not have one for the business or personal. I use my debit card, keeps me out of trouble....lol

Thanks,
Kurt
