Design software suggestion

CS6 is the last version of the suite that was available before CC started.
CC (stands for Creative Cloud) is basically a constantly self-updating version of the software that you pay for yearly but you get every software that comes with it from Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign to After Effects.
I believe you can download the CS2 suite for free if you look around their website, http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html is the one I found with a quick search but I havent logged in to confirm.

CorelDraw is easy to use. I've been learning to use it for the past 25 years and it does great stuff.

I did this yesterday so I could have a copy of Photoshop and Illustrator CS2 on my home computer and it worked like a champ. It's hard to beat free! I installed it on 64 bit Windows 8.1 with no issues.

Ok. Now I understand the CC part. Looks like the easiest way to go right now would be the cloud so we get everything. Yes its monthly but could see what we need and don't need and purchase later. Sound correct? I will download CS2 tonight to start messing with it. Right now the only computer I have is the one issued by the company I work for so I don't want to put too much on it. And I don't work for a graphics or vinyl company. I am ordering a new computer for this adventure.

Adobe website sucks in my opinion. I cant see anything regarding "CS6 suite". Everything I see is choose your programs. Do they have a complete package for the suite and I am missing it? Cause there are a few there that I know I dont think I need. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place on the site.

The Adobe site is very hard to navigate.

There are some very odd responses here... anyway, you are a
blank slate. Unless you are running a Mac, you can't go wrong with
either one. Personally, it's the software in between your ears you
need to worry about. Though I do agree, there are probably more
free tutorials for Illustrator.

Lynda.com not only teaches Illustrator, Corel and Photoshop, it also teaches design. I suggest Von Glitshka's classes.

You say "niche" market... might help to know... you need illustrating
abilities - http://www.illustrationclass.com or layout... you using
clip art? or hand drawn? You getting into any kind of wrap and design, you

I have a few programs, and know them pretty good. I prefer Illustrator
because of my work flow, and every signshop and design firm I deal with uses
Illustrator. Don't know where people get the idea that Corel is for Illustrating
or has an edge... they both do it really well, in my opinion, Illustrators layer
options give it an edge, add third party plug-ins and add's more drawing options....
when you get there.

If you go with Adobe...

If you selected just the Illustrator and Photoshop apps, you are
in for 40 bucks a month. I highly suggest getting the suite.
I imagine in time you will need to design a website and Muse is
a pretty simple but powerful program for those who can't code.

Once you sign up for Creative Cloud, you have a choice between CC and/or CS6.

Thanks for the input. I am glad i am not the only one that thought Adobes website was terrible to figure out.
