Dust collection suggestions

Anybody got any good suggestions or practical experience with dust collection in the shop for cutting sheet goods.

I'm pretty diligent about trying to keep the dust out of the shop and do most of the cutting outside (we have limited space so having a designated area is out of the question at the moment). Despite that we still get an occasional piece of saw dust on top of our prints and will have to reprint.

Thanks,
Chris

get a good dust collector and use a thein separator. This will keep the sawdust in one place to keep the area clean.
Harbor freight has a reasonable system for about 150 bux. You need a volume of air to be moved so it will carry the dust. A shop vacuum will work but it is high vacuum and low volume.

The thein separator will separate the fines and chunks from the system before they hit the collector bags and poke holes.

it is a hassle to remove the bags and replace when cleaning the dust collector. The thein separator will save all that work.

There are a number of kits around you can purchase as well. I use one kit and one shop made on the two systems I have here.

I attached a 4 inch hose and a baffle behind my home built panel saw kit that I developed last year. All chips and dust from the power tools is sucked up into a bin for easy removal. I also use a relay supply to turn on the system autopilot.
run the system outside and the dust problem will go away.

All this makes it very easy to keep the place clean.
