Encad chip decoder install

Newbie here, I got some carts to replace the ones on my Encad NJPro 600E and the decoder to be used with them. The instructions that came with the decoder aren't very clear to me. I'm not sure where the decoder is to be put on the PC Board the only connector that seems to be the correct size for it is the ribbon cable on the opposite side of the board from the memory simms. Is this correct ? It looks like it is the location for the trailing cable labeled J7?

it goes into the cable slot, and the cable should plug into the chip. at least thats the way mine is installed in one of my encadds
