That I know of...doing things for free has never brought me anything but more people looking for a hand out. If I do it for free, it's going to be because I want to support the cause, and I'm not looking to get anything out of it. Cause then they just keep wanting more and more for free.

Had one yesterday again. Can you give me a quote on a sign we want. Ok sure I say can you tell me how big and what you want. They say don't know. I ask if they have some specs or an art file. They have nothing no idea. So I try to give a quote for a generic I have no idea sign

Me, to a customer who has been in several times: "I've got to ask, where do I know you from?"
Customer, rolling her eyes as her business partner walks out the door snickering: "Do you watch a lot of adult videos?"
Wish she would have given me a link or a name or something. Maybe somebody here might recognize her....she's blonde and she's hot and she's got a couple of enhancements.

I'm not even kidding... a shady guy just came in and asked where he should go to pull a permit. I gave him a little vague info and he was like, "man, I gotta go through all that to put some letters up?!" I said, "yeah, that's why we get paid the big bucks to do it." So, I get to talking to him a little more and I guess he thinks he's a sign guy, cuz he starts telling me how he cut out letters from that stuff (PVC) and the landlord wouldn't allow it. I said, "wow, that's harsh, dude! Whelp, good luck with that."

love the customers that come in and want some of "dem yerd sail signs"
and once i give them a price on dem er signs they always want to know
if i have a cheaper sign than that .....
so i go in the back room and come out with a blank 6" x 18"
one nail and one of them half size sharpie markers and ask
them if they have a hammer ....... 9 times out of 10 they take me serious
